Automation Applications Engineer Jobs

Ensures full documentation of all projects and systems to WCM / Early Equipment Management (EEM) standards.

Thorough knowledge of Canadian Standards (CSA) for Electrical, Machinery Safety, Arc-Flash (NFPA-70), Burner Flame Safety (NFPA-86) code requirements and combustion controls.

Reports directly to the Capital Program Manager and is a member of the Canadian Central Engineering team.

“Hands-On” problem solver capable of providing on-site and remote support to multiple plants in order to solve complex automation related issues.

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience.

Ten (10) years of applied professional experience in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) / PLC and power distribution (up to 4160VAC.)

Experience with sensitive data management and ETL (health data experience preferred).

Experience working with federated identity applications and management (e.g., SAMBA, OAuth, etc.).

Implement and support data management, cloud data storage services using Azure native and third-party storage solutions, databases, and file systems.

Support security assessments, change management, and implement contingency plans for system upgrades while providing impact analysis and recommendation for system updates.

Robust understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and platform management for computing, networking, and storage.

Manage and support application user accounts, user access requests, and data preparation for user access.

Developing and maintaining GMP system documentation and manage supporting compliance activities.

Performing other administrative/managerial duties as required.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role within the biotech or related industry.

Strong knowledge of computer systems validation and GMP regulations.

2+ years of experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS.

Experience in dealing with multiple projects and working in a multi-disciplinary team, managing multiple tasks/assignments with staggered due dates and deadlines.

Knowledge and experience with defect management and test tool experience (Jira).

Identify testability requirements, utilizing industry standards for automated testing

In-depth understanding of the design, development, and analysis of software. In-depth skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and analysis.

Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly, meet deadlines, works independently and as part of a team and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

JavaScript coding experience is required.

Experience with source control tools such as GIT

Triage, prioritize, and manage the L2/L3 user support backlog

Establish and maintain a deep understanding of Just Appraised product and integration offerings

Document common support issues and resolutions, maintaining a knowledge base to empower self-service by customers

Proven track record managing several projects simultaneously across multiple functional and remote teams

Data centric approach to problem solving with a passion and skill in analyzing data, configuration, and logs to troubleshoot integration issues

3-5 years of experience in an Application or Product Support Engineering or similar role, providing technical support

Act as project manager for automation projects.

Five to ten years of relevant experience.

Support the plant operations by acting as a technical expert in automation.

Act as electrical technical expert for the internal and external projects, by approving electrical plans and procedures.

Define and ensure the maintenance of standards in control and automation.

University degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent diploma (member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec).

Good understanding and working knowledge of the following:

Strong computer skills in an MS Office environment

Hands-on practical mechanical and electrical experience

Experience operating CNC mills and lathes considered an asset

Experience with injection molding considered an asset

Good knowledge of Palo Alto firewall management

Develop automation to improve deployments of new branches and support existing infrastructure, e.g. device provisioning, configuration management, testing, patching, etc.

Participate as needed in incident, problem and change management processes as well as lessons learned with focus on continuous improvements

Configure and manage routing and switching platforms to support business applications

Design, configure and manage Wi-Fi solutions to support voice and location services

Configure and manage WAN between all locations with in-house solutions or provider managed services
