• Job type: Full-time | Long-Term contract
• Location: Labrador City, NL
• Shifts: 3 weeks on / 1 week off site FIFO rotation

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the application, design, configuration, and commissioning of automation systems
• Improve and upgrade existing assets and applies complex problem-solving techniques
• Oversee the engineering design and commissioning of industrial electrical power systems.
• Lead troubleshooting of automation systems and equipment
• Determine appropriate design deliverables based on project complexity
• Hold a key understanding of the project lifecycle, facility lifecycle and the engineering process
• Lead capital projects development including feasibility studies, project scope definitions, capital cost estimates, and preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
• Perform PLC and DCS programming

Requirements & Qualifications:

• P.Eng. designation is required
• Experience in reading wiring diagrams, electrical drawings
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Automation, Electrical, or Electronics is a must
• Experience working at an engineering firm, automation solutions provider, or plants engineering teams is an asset
• Strong PLC programming skills, preferably experienced with Allan Bradley Control Logix and PLC5
• Minimum 10 years of automation experience is also required
• Strong DCS programming skills, preferably experienced with Foxboro
• Experience developing operator interfaces, HMi
• Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
• Experience in process control engineering and instrumentation
• Knowledge of alarm rationalization, functional safety in design
• Strong knowledge of network protocols DeviceNet, HART; working knowledge of Ethernet (TCP/IP),
• Experience working on industrial automation projects
• Strong design knowledge of automation systems, control philosophy and applications
• Experience reading block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&ID's and translating them into control narratives and other associated control system documents
• Knowledge of PLC and DCS hardware, field instruments and equipment
• Preferable to have knowledge about variable speed drives and motor control centers
