NWI Precision’s 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team of approximately 200 employees pride themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking experienced Quality Engineer.

Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible to implement effective quality controls, train team members how to use them, and supervise outcomes to ensure compliance with drawing, specification and quality standard requirements. They interact daily with both internal and external customers and suppliers to develop quality plans and perform root cause and corrective action functions. They are a champion of a “Quality First through Zero Variation” mindset.

Quality Engineer Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Lead MRB teams to disposition containment, corrective and preventative actions.
• Promote quality awareness throughout the organization
• Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment
• Support Quality Inspectors in order to ensure products and processes comply with the relevant quality management system requirements
• Create and maintain company quality documentation such as quality standards and QA related reports. Lead training sessions in support of those standards
• Assist with the management of the AS9100 Quality Management System, including conducting training and documentation reviews and audits.
• Support the qualification and auditing of new and existing vendors
• Prepare, implement and maintain quality plans for production processes for new and existing products following an APQP AS13100 framework. Work in conjunction with Engineering and Operations to ensure that required quality controls are implemented and followed.
• Participate as Lead or Support Auditor in quality audits, both internal and external.
• Submit non-conforming requests to customers and vendors and work with respective peers on NCR dispositions.
• Responsible for continuous improvement activities and lean methods, to improve quality processes and procedures
• Initiate and review non-conformance reports (NCRs). Ensure that NCR’s are completed correctly and that corrective actions have been assigned to prevent reoccurrence.
• Collect data and analyze failure, corrective and preventive actions to respond to existing and potential manufacturing problems and issues. Collaborate with other stakeholders to recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions and monitor the effectiveness of the results.
• Manage First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR) processes, including submissions to customers and maintain change control verification of the FAI records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Meet the registration requirements of the Controlled Goods Program
• Able to work in Canada, Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Clear Background Check

EDUCATION:

• University degree in mechanical, manufacturing or process engineering

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

• Highly experienced in conducting Measurement System Analysis and gauge R&R activities
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a tightly controlled quality machining environment, within a manufacturing quality team
• Experience with statistical data analysis
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Green or Black belt Certification is an asset)
• Expert in PPAP preparation and submission to customers
• ERP (Syteline familiarity is an asset)
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office – World, Excel)
