Job Description
Mold-Masters is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Georgetown, ON. This is a 15-month contract position.


The Quality Engineer is responsible to maintain Quality Management System as per applicable regulatory, statutory and ISO requirements. Main tasks include inspection and testing activities, checking manufacturing processes, auditing quality system and creating adequate quality procedures to ensure they meet applicable standards. Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying technical, process and product issues and getting to the root cause of the problem. Proactively recommending solutions that will improve product durability and overall product and process performance. Reducing quality costs and raising quality awareness throughout the organization.

What you’ll do:


  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety program, including Emergency Response
  • Auditing organizational management system as per ISO 9001:2015 requirements and assisting to all external audits
  • Monitoring and reporting established key quality objectives of the organization
  • Schedule internal and external audits for the organization; accountable for follow-up on any non-conformances to resolution stage
  • Review new product requirements and identify the gap between the new product requirements and current inspection capabilities. Create new control plans and manage existing ones
  • Maintain existing procedures and establishing new ones as per organizational need
  • Monitoring and reporting on costs of poor quality, recognizing trends and reducing quality issues
  • Train employees on quality related topics
  • Establishing advanced quality control plans for new products implementation and reviewing the process capability
  • Reporting defects and ensuring appropriate manufacturing quality verification methods
  • Ensure corrective actions are effective in meeting provided objectives
  • Provide quality support to group companies when required (China, India, Europe)
  • Document and maintain Quality Procedures per ISO 9000 requirements and customer requirements
  • Promote and organize training activities related to product/process/system
  • Coordinate activities related to the release of new standard parts or changes to current standard designs released by engineering to the manufacturing plant
  • Lead special projects
  • Support returns activity
  • Respond to customer complaints and manage quality alerts
  • Coordinate external supplier product issues
  • Plan and perform internal quality system audits and identify the non-conformance per ISO 9000 and quality management system requirements
  • Determining quality metrics and driving actions to meet them
  • Investigate root causes of process defects, identify corrective/preventive actions, implement corrective/preventive actions and review effectiveness. Produce 8D reports accordingly
  • Ensure implementation of efficient quality verification processes for current and new processes that achieve maximum productivity
  • Support the Non-Conformance Report (NCR)and Master CAR process including training
  • Prepare Quality Control & Inspection plans to assist in preparation of FMEA before product implementation
  • Support calibration activity
  • Prepare Quality Report on key performance indicators, compile and analyze data, and create presentations and reports to senior management
  • Drive in process audits in various product lines according to the quality system established
  • Auditing processes for new and existing products to assure the highest level of customer satisfaction


The Quality Engineer will drive Root cause analysis on various quality issues, analysis of data and support for the manufacturing teams on their quality initiatives, process verification and validation study protocols and the compilation of resulting reports, participate in risk management and design/technical review activities, and apply sound statistical and scientific design of studies, sampling and testing. The incumbent will drive the improvement of quality, manufacturing, and supplier processes; make recommendations for quality, supplier and manufacturing methods that will result in economical manufacturing costs to optimize the productivity and efficiency of Mold-Masters Limited and related companies.


The Quality Engineer will self-manage the work assigned, responsible for supporting the Georgetown locations to ensure compliance to the ISO standard. This role is responsible for leading evaluation of customer returns, facilitating team approach to investigate the root cause of the failure and implementing corrective and preventive action(s), reviewing the effectiveness of the actions taken by the team. The Quality Engineer will investigate customer complaints and quality system non-conformance regarding quality management system and product performance.


The Quality Engineer will evaluate data of customer returns, process scrap and rework, communicate with customers, sales/service, suppliers and internal staff; write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.


The Quality Engineer is responsible for prioritizing, meeting ISO standards and acting as a technical resource for other departments to resolve quality issues.


The Quality Engineer will implement various components of a quality control program comprised of data analysis, systems evaluation, product assessment and quality technology. They will document quality issues and performance measures for management review.


Basic Requirements:


  • Proficient in use of quality tools and techniques such as: DOE, FMEA, MSA, PDCA, RCA, SPC, 8-D.
  • University Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years related experience in engineering and quality management.
  • Familiar with computer-controlled inspection tools (CMM, Projector, Roundtest)
  • ISO-Certified Auditor
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Power Point MS Office including Visio and Access.
  • Mechanical aptitude, ability to apply common sense and problem solve involving several concrete variables in standardized situations is required.
  • 1+ years of experience in an ISO 9000 environment
  • Strong mathematical capabilities, including probability, statistical inference, plane geometry, solid geometry and trigonometry are necessary.
  • Ability to write routine reports and to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and possibly external suppliers.
  • Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

  • Familiarity with manual tools (Micrometers, Verniers, plug gauges, etc.)
