Job Overview / Purpose
The Network Automation Engineer is responsible for management and automation of network infrastructure and related solutions in the cloud and on-prem datacenters, as well as corporate and field locations. This role will improve and maintain the ongoing reliability and supportability of the current infrastructure; improve speed and quality of the new implementations; respond to escalated L3 incidents and problems; continuously improve the Company’s operating environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Implement high availability strategies to maintain network performance and connectivity
- Conceptualize and build automation tooling and pipelines that enable standardization and management of secure network infrastructure at scale across a variety of environments, including cloud, on-prem datacenters and high number of distributed branch locations
- Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies to drive the IT innovation within Chartwell
- Support technical operations on key initiatives or projects from requirements to design to implementation
- Escalate and manage vendors, partner, and service providers and to provide timely resolution to problems
- Comply with all IT and corporate policies and with the guidance of the IT Security team, ensure that all audit controls are met
- Create and maintain documentation, including standards, diagrams, drawings, and deployment plans
- Standardize network infrastructure at data centers and remote locations to enable effective operations
- Configure and manage WAN between all locations with in-house solutions or provider managed services
- Collaborate via open communication reaching across functional borders to analyze, tune, and configure automated platform infrastructure and systems
- Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to issues
- Participate in researching solutions to various business and technical problems; evaluate alternatives; and provide recommendations
- Share expertise and provide individual training and support
- Design, configure and manage Wi-Fi solutions to support voice and location services
- Improve productivity by delivering orchestration, proactive monitoring, and self-healing automation
- Develop automation to improve deployments of new branches and support existing infrastructure, e.g. device provisioning, configuration management, testing, patching, etc.
- Configure and manage routing and switching platforms to support business applications
- Work closely with cyber security team and be proactive on remediating vulnerabilities
- Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and reporting of the company enterprise networks and data centers
- Participate as needed in incident, problem and change management processes as well as lessons learned with focus on continuous improvements
- Provide network infrastructure solutions based on application needs and anticipated growth
Qualifications
Education:
- Preference is given to a candidate with technical certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, etc.)
- University degree in a relevant field of study
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Cisco ISE, 802.1x, RADIUS and AAA
- Good knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of automation toolsets, languages and APIs, e.g. Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Netconf, Restconf, etc.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive IT experience working in a complex environment with many distributed sites
- Good knowledge of Azure IaaS, and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, cloud)
- Good knowledge of Routing Protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
- Good knowledge in diagnosing complex network performance issues and working with Network Monitoring systems, Wireshark, IPPERF, NETFLOW, IP SLA and other network troubleshooting / performance benchmarking techniques
- Good knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IPAM
- Resourceful and collaborative

- Excellent organizational & multitasking skills
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi and 802.11 protocols, RF planning and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of branch technologies including VLAN, STO, VRRP, HSRP, SD-WAN on Cisco ISR 4000, Cisco Catalyst 2960, 3600, 9200, 9300 platforms
- Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude
- Experience in building and supporting large scale Wide Area Networks including MPLS, GRE, DMVPN with QoS
- Good knowledge of Palo Alto firewall management
- Strong team player
- Expertise of enterprise data center environments, concepts and technologies including but not limited to Cisco Nexus platforms, Cisco ASR, load balancers, data center virtualization
