OSL (Outsourced Sales Leadership) was established in 2012 in Mississauga, Ontario, to provide clients with customized designed sales solutions in retail, direct sales, merchandising and customer acquisition.

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Data Systems, the Data Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions, crafting, and executing queries up request for data and presenting information through reports and visualization. OSL Retail Services is a collaborative, fast paced and innovative company, to be successful in this role you must thrive in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment.

What you’ll do:

• Excellent organizational, strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
• Evaluate and improve existing Data systems
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Maintain and support data workflows
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Develop and update technical documentation
• Design, build and automate data flows
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses

What you’ve done:

• Experience with creating SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• 2+ years experience as a Data Engineer
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data Developer, Data Analyst, or Data Scientist
• Positive and supportive tone, attitude, and work ethic
• Background in data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, and data mining
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
• In-depth understanding of database management systems and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)
• Knowledge and experience with databases, SQL or PostgreSQL
• 2+ years experience with Python
• Experience with Apache AirFlow and Spark
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative and collaborative
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field and or relevant knowledge with experience
