Automation Applications Engineer Jobs in British Columbia

Ensures full documentation of all projects and systems to WCM / Early Equipment Management (EEM) standards.

Thorough knowledge of Canadian Standards (CSA) for Electrical, Machinery Safety, Arc-Flash (NFPA-70), Burner Flame Safety (NFPA-86) code requirements and combustion controls.

Reports directly to the Capital Program Manager and is a member of the Canadian Central Engineering team.

“Hands-On” problem solver capable of providing on-site and remote support to multiple plants in order to solve complex automation related issues.

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience.

Ten (10) years of applied professional experience in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) / PLC and power distribution (up to 4160VAC.)

Experience with sensitive data management and ETL (health data experience preferred).

Experience working with federated identity applications and management (e.g., SAMBA, OAuth, etc.).

Implement and support data management, cloud data storage services using Azure native and third-party storage solutions, databases, and file systems.

Support security assessments, change management, and implement contingency plans for system upgrades while providing impact analysis and recommendation for system updates.

Robust understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and platform management for computing, networking, and storage.

Manage and support application user accounts, user access requests, and data preparation for user access.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant Industrial programming, electrical and commissioning experience

Expert knowledge in Allen-Bradley Machinery

Experience with Industrial Control Panels and Motor Control circuits

Experience with mechanical design, leading projects, and managing tradespeople/contractors

Experience with projects involving manufacturing plants (Food, Pharma, Cannabis facilities preferred)

Experience with Microsoft Operating systems and Industrial Networking Protocols

Prioritizing tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and providing time estimates and feedback to project managers; and

5+ years’ experience in an Automation Engineering or Technologist role or equivalent position;

Experience using the following systems:

Designing control systems for industrial applications and making changes to existing systems as needed;

Producing and updating design drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical;

Completing documentation to record design activities, including work plans and work performed;

Strong object-oriented programming experience preferably in Swift or Objective-C

Experience in iOS or macOS development using Xcode

Excellent troubleshooting skills with a passion for quality

Experience in writing automation tests at unit, API, UI, and non-UI levels

-- Knowledge of complex system level debugging and root cause analysis

-- Experience working with CI systems

Organize, document, and present technical design reviews and project management overviews with minimal assistance

Hands on electric/electronic installation, diagnostic and troubleshooting experience

Minimum 4 years previous experience in a custom automated equipment builder work environment

Good working knowledge of hardware/software interfacing

Manufacturing experience is a strong asset

Strong team player and excellent people skills and the ability to communicate at all levels

Min. 5 years of experience in electrical/electronics, product development and management, and/or project management

Affinity to problem-solving, troubleshooting, time-management, and multi-tasking

Define charging solution proposals and requirements for the sales team, including product selections, cost calculations, and delivery time estimations

Educate customers on product functions and capabilities

Manage the delivery of solutions from start to final release to customers

Experience in the automotive, EV, or EV charging space is a big plus

Experience using tools such as Selenium, Python/Pytest Framework, and Web Services (REST API's) for automation development

Experience with tools such as Jira and TestRail

Experience with a variety of Quality Assurance technology architecture including application, infrastructure, data and security

Experience working within the FI (Financial Industry) preferably at the Big Banks, or within Capital Markets

Experience with automation within the Salesforce platform (Service Cloud/Experience Cloud)

5+ years as a QA Automation Engineer with a strong focus on development

Expertise and experience configuring DeltaV software

ISA-88 Batch Process Control experience

Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work with other project teams

16. Provide Automation support during the commissioning and qualification activities.

17. Maintain compliance with training requirements

Understanding of wiring and fieldbus engineering drawings

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with FAEs/customers to design in complex SoC/silicon products with a PCIe interface

Silicon/System bring-up and debug experience in customer systems.

Firsthand experience with lab equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, high-speed oscilloscopes, or BERTs.

Technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation including application notes and similar guides for internal and customer-facing audiences.

Strong academic and technical background in electrical engineering. At minimum, a Bachelor’s in EE is required, Master’s is preferred.

Experience working in highly collaborative environments with multidisciplinary roles beyond engineering like design, production, art and product management.

Experience using static and performance analysis tools, automated testing, unit testing, and configuration management processes.

Demonstrate excellent technical problem-solving skills under iteratively changing requirements during game development.

Author technical design documents detailing software requirements.

3+ year experience in a hands-on development role.

Demonstrate technical abilities with large projects implemented in C++.

1+ years of relevant experience in project management

1+ years or relevant experience communicating/training operators/plant management staff in plant operations

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and industry trends related to product onboarding, customer education, and applications engineering.

Master of Engineering degree, Professional Engineering designation, or equivalent experience preferred.

Support product & tech teams to provide expertise on treatment segment-specific challenges & feature requirements to solve customer problems.

Experience in the water industry, ideally in water/wastewater treatment
