Senior Automation Engineer Jobs

Introduction

We are currently hiring a Senior Automation Engineer for our client based in Abbotsford, BC. The Senior Automation Engineer will report to the Projects Director and will be responsible for managing day-to-day aspects of company projects and will be accountable for the completion of assigned projects within their scope, budget, and schedule. This role requires a hands-on person who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and support the team on the floor when needed. The ideal candidate would have previous experience as an Automated Engineer (SME) and experience with Allen-Bradley Machinery.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance from all provinces across Canada.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the sourcing, pricing, installation, testing, and maintenance of production equipment and automated machinery
• Collaborate and communicate with team members to help problem-solve and resolve complex issues
• Subject matter expert for all Allen-Bradley machinery for multiple facilities
• Commission automated equipment relating to food processing (conveyors, augers, dryers, packaging machines, silos, cyclones, etc.)
• Work as a Project-lead with a team of Electricians, Programmers, and Automation Specialists
• Provide technical support to operations relating to automation and controls for troubleshooting production equipment, coordinating efforts, and expediting repairs
• Troubleshooting through complex issues on multiple projects when required
• Modification and troubleshooting of existing automated production equipment
• Demonstrate the ability to work hands-on and understand the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical systems
• PLC programming and HMI design with the company’s software
• Project planning by effectively programming, commissioning, communicating, and delivering on objectives with different teams and departments

Requirements

• Experience with mechanical design, leading projects, and managing tradespeople/contractors
• Expert knowledge in Allen-Bradley Machinery
• Experience with projects involving manufacturing plants (Food, Pharma, Cannabis facilities preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Operating systems and Industrial Networking Protocols
• Valid driver's license and vehicle
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant Industrial programming, electrical and commissioning experience
• Experience with Industrial Control Panels and Motor Control circuits
