About Rechargeable Battery Materials In Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What You Will Be Doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Quality Manager, reporting to the Managing Director. In this role you will be taking the lead for enhancing existing Quality organization/system to match Automotive level requirements (IATF/VDA) for the RBM Canada site. Supporting the organization in preparing for relevant Customer audits, Supplier qualifications and management of complaints.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the supplier performance through RBM supplier management procedure
• Lead site quality related projects
• Representative of Quality Management System & Product Safety and Conformity
• Coordinate supplier quality related issues and manage consolidated communication. Escalate to central functions issues not manageable at site level
• Support new supplier qualification applying RBM global procedures, and in coordination with central Supply Quality organization
• Perform/organize internal audits
• Follow up on inter-site quality issues and take the lead when necessary.
• Actively contribute to bridge the gap towards Automotive standards, as a direct OEM supplier, as well as Customer towards the own supply base
• Maintain/enhance a standardized RBM Quality management systems
• RBM Canada quality KPI management: supporting to set up KPI target, collect site results
• In coordination with central Supply Quality, define the supplier quality audit plan
• Assist site in customer audit preparations, in coordination with RBM Customer Quality representative
• Organize the regular site quality meetings & update of Quality topics

As Quality Management process owner, you will be responsible for its effective functioning, analysing the associated risks, and ensuring the achievement of the expected results.

Who We Are Looking For

• Knowledge of the process and risk-based approach
• Qualifications to be Product Safety and Conformity Representative is a plus
• Proven ability to coordinate teams and projects
• Computer skills: maintenance scheduling software, office software (Excel, Access and Word). Knowledge of PowerBi is an asset.
• Good communicator, strong interpersonal skills, promoter of cross-department cooperation
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of statistical tools (6 sigma)
• Committed to results
• Ability to organize and coach his/her team and to organize project teams
• Knowledge of lab analytical systems is a plus
• Ability to phrase concepts in a structured and clear manner
• Knowledge of the requirements of ISO9001, IATF16949 and VDA, to the extent necessary to manage the assigned process
• Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems
• Bachelor or Master degree in Quality Management with minimum 5 years of all-round experiences in quality management systems and quality control
• Knowledge of variety of systems & tools applied in operational excellence (lean 6 sigma, VSM, TOC, TPM, 5S) and experience in implementing continuous improvement within quality management
• Independent, self-initiative
