Quality Manager Jobs

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Operations, the Quality Manager is responsible for the overall direction of the Quality Management System. This individual must ensure quality assurance and quality control procedures are consistent with the scope(s) of work being completed and adherence to all governing bodies. Additionally, an emphasis must be placed on continuous improvement to ensure details of the program align with the evolving industry standards and new technologies.

This position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton AB.

Responsibilities:

• Development and / or revise quality assurance and quality control forms to maintain compliance with the ever-changing industry standards.
• Reviews all internal and external non-conformances and ensures a root-cause analysis is performed for each occurrence. All rework costs tracked and reported to management for review. Upon findings of the root causes analysis a corrective or preventative action may be required to revised forms and/or procedures.
• Development and implementation of project specific inspection & test plans that adhere to governing standards including but not limited to client specifications, provincial/federal regulations, etc.
• Identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) in relation to quality and reviews lagging and leading trends.
• Development and implementation of project specific quality management plans, aligning Stuart Olson and Client/Owner requirements from a quality standpoint.
• Participates in third-party audits to allow for recertification by Stuart Olson Industrial in terms of CWB, ABSA, ASME, ISO, TSASK, TSSA, etc.
• Take part in overall QMS audits on an annual basis.
• Leads a team of quality professionals at both a corporate and project level to drive consistency in the Quality Management System throughout the organization.
• Perform quality audits of projects on an on-going basis to confirm conformance to company and owner standards.
• Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team. Actively supports field QA/QC personnel to ensure successful completion of all of Stuart Olson Industrial’s projects.
• Collaborates with other leaders within the organization to create a quality-based culture, which benefits each project in addition to internal department relations.

What We Are Looking For:

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas Industry and/or Nuclear Power Industry.
• Quality Management Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to meet aggressive internal and external deadlines.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 (latest revision)
• CSA W178.2 Level II Certification an asset.
• Minimum 6+ years’ experience directly related to QA/QC.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, PowerBI and Construction Management System (CMS) software.
• P. Eng an asset.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret legal terminology found in such documents as contracts, government regulations and technical codes or standards. Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Vast knowledge of applicable codes, including but not limited to: API, ASME, CSA etc)
• CWB Welding Supervisor Certificate an asset.
• Well-rounded knowledge base relating to multiple disciplines and turnover requirements related to these disciplines.
• Deep expertise and a proven track record with respect to the continuous improvement project delivery services and value-added constructability processes and practice.
• Experience with projects of a General Contracting nature and the coordination required for such turnovers.
