Job Description

Location:

Calgary, AB


Objectives:

Our client, a professional engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, who will support engineering for upstream oil and gas facilities and pipelines, across diverse projects, each ranging from $1 million to $200 million total capital cost. The successful candidate will take responsibility for project coordination and execution, including developing plans and schedules, managing budgets and resources, and collaborating with clients, vendors, and project personnel.


Qualifications:


At a minimum, we require:

  • University degree.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects, focused on the construction and development of oil and gas facilities and pipelines.


Ideally, you possess:

  • Accredited Engineering diploma or degree (Petroleum, Chemical, Process, Industrial, Mechanical or related).
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience working with small to medium-sized (<250 employees) oil and gas engineering services (EPC) firms.
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.), Provisional Licensee, Professional Licensee (P.L.Eng.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

Responsibilities:


Project Planning

  • Create and administer Requests for Quotations (RFQ), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Purchase Orders (PO).
  • Develop Project Execution Plans (PEP) and Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) that outline objectives, timelines, and deliverables; and describe equipment, funding, and staffing requirements.
  • Assess needs and priorities by communicating directly with clients, including defining project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Perform risk assessments to anticipate issues and develop response strategies.


Project Execution

  • Facilitate regular communication, project meetings and updates as required between staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Submit project status reports to clients and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with goals, expectations, and quality standards.
  • Initiate, review, and approve modifications to project plans.


Leadership and Supervision

  • Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems.
  • Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of authority to project personnel.
  • Monitor the performance of project team members, providing and documenting feedback.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel.
