Leader Name: Director, Facilities


As ATB's next Senior Manager, Facilities Management with People Places & Spaces (PP&S), you will report to the Director, Facilities and lead the Facilities Management team. You'll manage a team of 3 Facilities Managers located in both Calgary and Edmonton and will be accountable for the management of ATB's facilities from a holistic perspective, fostering team member, landlord & subtenant relationships to effectively and efficiently deliver on facility performance & budget objectives through contract, vendor performance, physical security, environmental, space change & ERT/on call management. This role is required to be on call approximately once every eight weeks.


This is a pivotal role in executing on the PP&S Strategic Blueprint objectives. We are excited to further identify and develop targets for team KPIs & Service Level Agreements (SLAs), integrating this data in all aspects of our business to drive future decisions.


PP&S is ATB's real estate and facilities business unit and leads: real estate strategy, workplace optimization & experience, spatial design, construction, project management, leasing & subleasing management, facilities management & maintenance, asset management, facility operations, occupational health & safety, and physical security. PP&S oversees ATB's 1.5 million square feet of space and the team is deeply connected to transforming banking through ATB's client facing locations, and leading the way with corporate workplace transformation, both of which bring ATB's mandate to life and make it possible for Albertans.


Senior Manager, Facilities Management Accountabilities


  • Annual site visits at approximately 80 locations to build relationships, develop understanding of facility conditions, team member & client workspace needs and create consistent team processes and procedures
  • Oversight of the Life Cycle Program incl. integration with tiered model and leasing objectives, as well as business partner coordination and communications
  • Oversight of minor space change projects and team member moves, including utilizing effective space change management concepts and communications
  • Oversight of Facilities Management Processes with Quarterly Reviews
  • Team Member Growth & Development
  • Oversight of Client, Team Member & Subtenant Facilities Experience, coordinating across teams to integrate objectives and activities to accomplish goals
  • Leads and coaches the Facilities Management team, prioritizing objectives and activities to achieve facility, team culture and strategic blueprint objectives.
  • Oversight of Team Member, Landlord & Subtenant Relationships to meaningfully shape the team member and client experience
  • On Call Program Management/Oversight & Rotation accountability approximately every 8 weeks
  • Annual site visits for each of 160+ locations to build relationships, develop mutual understanding of team member & client workspace needs and create consistent processes & procedures
  • Leverages Facility and Sublease Performance data and forecasting, incl. KPIs, SLAs, Operating Budgets, & AssetPlanner Reporting, to meaningfully shape the client and team member experience
  • Oversight cross team coordination of Physical Security, incl. Equipment, Software & Response, as well as Development & Implementation of Corporate & Executive Security Plan
  • Oversight of Vendor Performance Management & Contract Services, including New Procurement Activities, Amendments and Extensions
  • Collaborates on strategic planning to achieve business goals

As The Ideal Candidate You Possess


  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching experience, preferably with a team of direct reports
  • Process development and implementation experience
  • Post-secondary degree in business operations, business administration, business management or other relevant fields.
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information affecting ATB's environment
  • Experience maintaining the client and team member experience within space
  • Technical skills, including G-Suite, and experience learning and adapting to new technologies and software
  • Physical security management experience
  • Facilities management software experience, preferably AssetPlanner
  • Experience with a distributed retail network
  • A valid class 5 driver's license
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience
  • Facilities Management designation (CFM, RPA, FMA)
