CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Lead, Accessible Technology! Reporting to the Manager, Programs & Community Engagement, this position will play a key role in changing the lives of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted by optimizing access and the accessibility of technology that helps to level the playing field for people with vision loss in every aspect of their lives.
Your impact at CNIB
  • Work closely with CNIB’s Philanthropy team to maximize donor investment in this program– providing information and support for various types of appeals and impact reports and liaising directly with prospective and existing donors to secure, retain and upgrade their philanthropic and/or volunteer support.
  • You will execute 1:1 support or group support to clients.
  • Lead and manage outcome evaluation processes for this program in your region, using a national framework.
  • Champion CNIB's high standards of client and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
  • Recruit, train, engage and actively manage an integrated team of staff and volunteers who will be accountable for promoting CNIB's efforts in accessibility technology, develop partnerships in the technology sector to better support the need of the client, as well as developing and delivering new programs to those who are blind or partially sighted.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
  • Develop implementation plans to maximize the success of the accessible technology & SmartLife in our foundation programs and in your local market.
  • Assist with the management of your program's budget.
Who You Are
  • An active member in the blindness community.
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic, and flexible.
  • Working knowledge of national volunteer organizations with a branch, region and/or membership-based structure.
  • A track record of successful people management encompassing leading, managing, and motivating teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Extensive knowledge in accessibility and adaptive technology.
  • Connections to youth-based community organizations.
  • Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity and accessibility issues.
We Want To Hear From You If You Have
  • Experience in developing service delivery models.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in training people with vision loss on utilizing accessible technology.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience with accessibility technology and delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and devising presentations.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
  • Relationships with employers and experience in educating employers on the accessibility of software.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit or charity.
Work Environment
  • Travel will be required.
