Reporting to the Senior Operations Director, the Operations Director for Operational Performance will lead a team responsible for meeting Operational Consistency and Effectiveness targets of the screening operations at the Vancouver International Airport. This position must ensure adherence and compliance with all company policies and procedures, all relevant legislations, and any applicable collective agreements.

Major Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Provides leadership, direction, and coaching to the management team responsible for the Operational Consistency and Effectiveness of the YVR Operation.
• Recommends revisions to plans, policies, procedures, budgets, and systems that would streamline operations to control costs.
• Collaborates with Human Resources to provide positive and effective succession and training plans for their team members.
• Ensures proper management oversight of the screening process with a focus on creating a positive culture with continuous interaction with screening personnel.
• Collaborates with other departments and areas of the organization to improve processes within the organization, service delivery to CATSA and its clients, namely, YVR and the travelling public.
• Coach and correct non-compliant behavior and expected skill level in the management team and the screening personnel.
• Provides a transparent Governance and Compliance program which allows CATSA to have complete visibility into operational performance.
• Develop and implement formal training and performance development plans as required.
• Makes recommendations as to the hiring, promotion, or reassignment of personnel to the benefit of the organization.
• Reinforces with their team the importance of staying within their area of responsibility.

Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from front-line staff up to senior management, with a high level of diplomacy, tact, discretion, and professionalism.
• Strong operational background with a proven track record in managing and meeting KPIs.
• Strong communication, client service and consulting skills.
• A solid track record of leading change with a strong drive for results.
• Strong leadership, presentation, and persuasion skills.
• Experience leading, supporting, and managing a team or several teams of managers in an operational setting required.
• Proven ability to delegate tasks effectively.
• University Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be eligible to attain and maintain the appropriate level of Federal and Transport Canada Security Clearance.
• 10+ years of progressive management experience preferably in a unionized environment.
• Proven ability to write business reports, operational plans, policies, and other documents.
• Demonstrated ability to build influence with stakeholders and other strategic business partners.
