Full-Time (12–18-month Maternity Leave Coverage)


Wage & Paygrade: $28.36/hr. (PG160) plus Benefit Allotment.

The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 113-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. Our Ideal candidate provides administrative support to the Playland Facilities and Ride Maintenance Department, ensuring that documentation pertaining to shipments, conducted maintenance, and staff competencies are accurately maintained and recorded. The Maintenance Office Administrator ensures administrative compliance with Technical Safety BC and administers the CMMS Platform, including the development of inspection schedules, completion of regulatory documentation, and maintenance of the resource library. A further period of up to one (1) year is required in the position to become familiar with ASTM Standards and Mobaro CMMS Maintenance planning procedures and systems.

What will you do this year?


In your role as a Maintenance Office Administrator, your primary accountabilities will be to:


  • Provide general reception services and ensure that contractors entering the site have completed the sign-in process
  • Purchase supplies in accordance with departmental procedures and corporate policies
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure regular services are being carried out in conjunction with existing contracts.
  • Provide supporting bookkeeping services to process invoices, compile financial reports and input budgets
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies for the Playland Operational team and reorder as required
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Provide general administration support for the Playland Facilities & Ride Maintenance Department
  • Assist with the administration of the Grounds Maintenance Department, including providing support with scheduling and staff communication
  • Input and verify hours for seasonal staff base, ensuring alignment with CUPE 1004 Collective Agreement


What else?


  • Ability to function with minimal supervision in a shop environment.
  • Experience in accounting practices and/or procurement is preferred
  • Must have great communication skills and the ability to assist internal and external clients over the phone and in-person.
  • Must have an acute attention to detail, excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and an ability to work in a busy environment while managing priorities.
  • Must be capable of reading, writing, and speaking English for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets, and documentation of work.
  • Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have proficient skills and working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum two (2) years recent related experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Must possess an understanding of payroll, invoicing, and budgets.
  • Must have successful completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be available to work weekends during the Playland operating season
