Reporting to the Director of Finance the Operations Analyst provides accounting support for our production teams in 2 locations. They are the bridge between our manufacturing processes and our financial outcomes. They are a key partner to our IT team and consultants in reporting and business intelligence development for the organization. They are the data driven facilitator to continuously improve our manufacturing efficiency and productivity throughout the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the detailed documentation of processes
- Facilitate data gathering and clean up in the ERP system
- Monthly production and purchasing review
- Lead the development of more efficient and accurate reporting
- Daily analysis, review and transfer of financial postings from the production system to the financial system
- Assist in special assignments and duties as needed
- Assist in the year end financial audit
- Weekly review of backlog pricing and profitability
- Daily monitoring of Work in Process jobs and inventory levels including communications with production managers for changes required on jobs
- Monthly review of inventory valuation, overhead absorption analysis and scrap
- Lead root cause analysis of costing issues
- Daily review and analysis of variances on completed jobs
- Monthly review of inventory counts
- Quarterly review of machine costing calculations and the rates used for the application of overhead
Technical Competencies
- Ability to adapt and learn new software
- Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems and a strong understanding of MRP
- Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams in various disciplines and at all levels within the organization
- Ability to facilitate multi-department investigations of costing issues
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial departments
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting and standard costing
- Experience working with large amounts of complex data
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with IT professionals in report building
- Experience with Business Intelligence considered an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA designation considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SQL considered an asset
- 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment
