POSITION: Operation Accountant

JOB OVERVIEW:

As a key player, you will support operation team within our boutique hotel properties with full cycle accounting responsibilities. This includes supporting our newest location The Postmark Hotel opening summer 2023.

REPORTS TO: AVP Finance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Preparing month-end journal entries
• Assist in budget and forecast
• Cash reconciling for hotel safe
• Prepare, reconcile, and process statutory remittances such as HST, WSIB, MAT, Union Dues
• Review, reconcile, and upload income journal; resolve any discrepancies between PMS/POS and general ledger
• Reconciliations of bank, petty cash, and credit cards
• Prepare accurate and on-time monthly analysis include:
• Year-end assistance
• Perform accurate full cycle accounting, mainly include:
• Comparisons to budget with explanation of variances related to non-operating costs
• Hotel payroll
• Analyze variances, prepare adjustments and journal entries for month-end
• Assist in the preparation of other ad hoc reports/accounting works as necessary
• Invoice processing
• Balance sheet reconciliation and income statement preparation on a monthly basis

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal as well as oral/written communication skills
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Strong attention to details
• Bachelor’s degree in commerce with major in accounting or finance
• 2-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably focused on the hospitality industry
• Ability to both work independently and within a team environment
• Excellent analytical and decision making skills
• Knowledge of NetSuite, Maestro, ADP, and Silverware will be an asset
