Intermediate Accountant

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting, accounting, and payroll duties at the Kawartha Downs site office. They will report directly to the General Manager. The successful candidate will have the motivation and ability to thrive in a challenging and constantly changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Process daily funding activities and record them.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Prepare and analyze various reports as required.
• Prepare financial statements and quarterly and annual reporting.
• Perform daily bank and general ledger account reconciliations resolving any discrepancies.
• Process month-end and year-end general journal entries.
• Prepare year-end operating costs recovery schedule.
• Prepare and process all government reporting including, but not limited to HST, EHT, WSIB, and Ontario Racing reports.
• Prepare customer and intercompany invoices and record daily sales and other cash receipts.
• Process payroll and complete all payroll reports.
• Prepare financial data analysis.

Qualifications

• Organizational and time management skills to manage several ongoing and competing tasks within time sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently, able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to work both individually and as a member of a team.
• Professional Accounting designation an asset.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software and QuickBooks, ADP WFN, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Post secondary degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent.
• At least five years of accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll, accounting principles, financial statements, G/L, receipts, payments, and general accounting functions.
