Senior Tax Analyst/ Senior Accountant

Our client is an investor and asset manager that invests capital on behalf of Onex shareholders and clients across the globe. Formed in 1984, we have a long track record of creating value for our clients and shareholders. Onex has $48.4 billion in assets under management ("AUM"), of which $33.5 billion is fee-generating and $7.9 billion is Onex' own investing capital. In Private Equity, we raise funds from third-party investors, or limited partners, and invest them, along with OUR own investing capital, through the funds of our private equity platforms: Onex Partners and ONCAP. Our investors include a broad range of global clients, including public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and family offices. THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Director, Tax based in Toronto, your focus will be on preparation of tax returns and ad hoc tax reporting & support for ONYX Corporation while working closely with the other lines of business.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Preparation of Canadian corporate tax returns and supporting work papers
• Preparation of tax provision working papers for select Canadian and UK operating business.
• Preparation of FATCA and CRS forms for various fund entities and select investors
• Reviewing and resolving tax notices received from Canadian tax authorities, including working on other matters such as obtaining identification numbers, etc.
• Examining investor profiles and other investor activity as needed for withholding calculations or other reporting purposes
• Preparation of Commodity tax filings in Canada and the UK and supporting work papers (including SLFI)
• Compilation of FBAR information used for individual filings and select entity filings

WHAT YOU BRING:

Professional Characteristics

• CPA designated or working towards the CPA designation is preferred
• A willingness to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
• Experience with Tax Prep suite of products or another tax preparation software considered an asset
• University degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, business or commerce
• Ideally possess a minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in a tax role
• Attention to detail and good communication skills necessary
• Entrepreneurial, team-oriented work ethic and personality
• Ability to self-start, multi-task, and meet deadlines
