Job Description
The Senior Accountant - Retained Accounting is responsible for in-depth analysis and recording of accounting topics that require experience and knowledge to find solutions and ensure the integrity of our adidas Canada financial records. Furthermore, this role will act as an interlink between our Global Business Services function and various business & finance functions here in NAM.
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Support during external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and bridge to connect the appropriate team members.
  • Perform GL analysis of transactions in SAP, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Prepare/post journal entries in collaboration with GBS Team as needed.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly payments to related and non-related vendors.
  • Timely payment of taxes and keeping track of payments made for taxes e.g., sales tax, withholding tax, corporate taxes.
  • Managing cheque runs, EFT payments and bank enquiries on payments as needed.
  • Coding of all freight, duty bills and other related invoices.
  • Provide support in other areas of accounting as per IFRS, as required.
  • Reconciliation of specific special vendors to statement and intercompany balances.
  • Coding of all domestic & foreign purchases, for all brands to proper GL accounts.
  • Support in processing and validating regular overhead and workflow invoices.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Logistics and Finance Departments.
  • Timely follow up on all GIT, AP and accrual accounts.
  • Providing accruals for any outstanding product, utilities, freight, or duty invoices, for month end closings.
Skills Required
  • Must be extremely proactive, have strong initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Good problem-solving skills; strong decision-making skills; innovative use of IT tools and new technology; and good time management and priority setting skills required.
  • Must be adaptable and be flexible in a changing environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, with a focus on IFRS.
  • Exceptional administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Good understanding of overall business workflow and process understanding.
  • Strong proficiency in software packages including Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
Education Required
University or College Degree preferred, and at least 3-5 years of job experience.

  • Report to Supervisor / Manager the absence of, or any defect in, any equipment or protective devices of which s/he is aware and which may endanger her/himself or another worker; and also any hazard of which s/he knows.

  • We officially returned to office in a hybrid work environment, working 3 days in office and 2 days remote. The working location of this position is Woodbridge, ON.
