The Brampton Board of Trade is seeking a Manager, Events and Community Networks to join our dynamic team. As a Manager, you'll play a key role in driving engagement with businesses in Brampton and beyond. You'll be responsible for designing and executing events, developing engaging event content, and leveraging modern digital tools to promote Brampton’s regional chamber of commerce. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with decision-makers in both the private sector and government, build your professional network, and enhance your portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging event content and themes that resonate with our target audience and drives participation in our programs and events
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with other business and community organizations that can help advance our mission and vision.
- Engage businesses by phone and online communications to drive attendance in programs and events
- Manage the event planning process from conception to post-event activities
- Work with the team to conduct research and contribute to publications that benefit our member base
- Manage our existing event program portfolio while working to create new and exciting content and event ideas that align with our members’ needs
- Cross-functional training in operations, administration, marketing and business development
- Write event scripts and agendas to effectively capture relevant ideas and minute-to-minute flow, keeping presenters informed and set up for success
- In collaboration with the team, leverage social media, other creative skills to promote Board of Trade events, networks and enhance our online presence.
Qualifications:
- Experience and interest in economic development, entrepreneurialism, and business advocacy an asset
- Research and content creation skills an asset
- Post-secondary education in event management, project management, business administration, or marketing an asset
- Flexibility to work irregular hours as events may commence before or after regular 9:00 am – 4:00 pm office hours
- Ability to recognize and tackle problems by coming up with creative, effective solutions.
- 3-5+ years of experience in event planning, business engagement or marketing.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects and deliverables
- Access to a vehicle to transport provisions to and from event locations, scout new venues and attend events.
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Demonstrated success in delivering impactful Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, events, and forums
