POSITION: Manager PR & Events

The environment is fast-paced and focused, and our team members work both independently and collaboratively to deliver and market over 80 events annually, in addition to other types of programming to support our membership-driven business community. We rely solely on membership dues and program sponsorship; ensuring we meet the needs of our membership drives our NFP success.

A smart, confident, and collaborative team player with an appetite for continuous learning and improvement, you will lead the strategic development and execution of events and related marketing communication initiatives designed to demonstrate the value of our Chamber to its membership, local stakeholders, and partners. You are tailor-made for this role if you have the following qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Manager, PR & Events will be accountable for over 80 annual events the chamber produces. This position will develop, implement, and maintain a variety of networking and professional development events. This includes, but is not limited to, directing the development of the marketing communication and PR materials.
This is a critical part of the WCC team and holds a multi-disciplinary list of responsibilities, including:
·Reporting directly to CEO
·Event conception & planning, development, and execution for all our events with the interest of our members and sponsors in mind.
·Developing, managing and being accountable for overall event budgets aligned with approved annual forecasts.
·Assuring efficiency in processes and execution.
·Directing and providing feedback to the marketing communications materials Marketing and Communication Manager for all event communications – increasing awareness and participation of our events
·Creating and execution of Annual PR plan.
·Creating PR stories for social media execution with Marketing and Communication Manager
·Responsible for the creation of annual corporate sponsorship packages along with Engagement & Outreach Manager
·Liaison between event sponsors once secured by the Manager of Engagement & Outreach for the effective execution of events
·Managing the event coordinator (direct report) in all aspects of event and administration.
·Negotiating contracts with venue personnel, caterers, hospitality staff, and other vendors to acquire necessary services and activities for events while meeting budgetary objectives.
·Monitoring and overseeing events from preparation and set-up through teardown to ensure adherence to the planned format, compliance with regulations, cooperation between vendors, resolution of issues, and overall satisfaction of participants.
·Performing post-event tasks, including producing an ROI for presentation to the Board of Directors for Signature Events.
·Managing the events calendar, including posting events, and integrating with the WCC customer relationship management software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Experience/degree in PR and Event Management. • Minimum of 3 - 5+ years of experience in the field • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated experience with various types of consumer-driven technology: apps, survey software and CRM products. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. • Team player with a member-centric mindset and positive attitude. • A driver’s license and vehicle are a must: to visit event venues and deliver event-related materials to and from the chamber • Thriving in a fast-paced environment
WORK LOCATION:
Our office is located downtown Whitby at 209 Dundas Street East, and we are currently offering a hybrid work schedule
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be based on candidate capabilities and qualifications but includes both a fair compensation package, some great perks, and a generous benefit package.
