Reporting to the Director, Brand Marketing, you will support the seamless development and execution of integrated, best-in-class brand and marketing strategy, campaigns and initiatives that consistently position Manulife as a digital, customer leader, helping Canadians achieve healthy outcomes.


You will be a key contributor, with an opportunity for significant transformational impact on the business, helping Manulife Canada achieve our ambition of being the undisputed leader in Canada. This is a key cross-functional role requiring collaboration internally (cross-functional teams, business lines, segments, and with global) and externally (production and creative agency partners, vendors, etc.). The ideal candidate requires a balance of leadership, strategy, creativity, entrepreneurship, and analytical


thinking. They have perfected the brand voice and the art of human and emotional storytelling which makes them the ultimate brand champion.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Support the management of agency relationships, collaborate closely with external creative and media agencies including day-to-day agency management, creative & media execution, and reporting to ensure marketing spend delivers strong Marketing Return on Investment (MROI) and delivers on key targets and business objectives.
  • Support the Director in the delivery of the brand strategy for Canada, managing the implementation of the strategy in Canada Segment. Steer all business lines to represent the brand in their respective plans according to defined brand guidelines.
  • Manage consistent brand communications and use of the brand narrative across Manulife Canada marketing; maintain strong relationships with key marketing stakeholders in Insurance, Group Benefits & Bank to maintain oversight and visibility to all major Canada wide marketing initiatives
  • Contribute to global measurement and reporting initiatives
  • Collaborate with Digital Analytics and Research and Insight teams to measure and evaluate campaign effectiveness
  • Manage the end-to-end planning and execution of key brand campaigns and segment-wide initiatives with the goal of increasing brand awareness/ consideration and shifting brand perception with target audiences across consumer and intermediary channels.
  • Lead annual budget management with the support of the Marketing Specialist, collaborating closely with Finance Manager to ensure budget is spent against plan
  • Provide coaching and guidance to a Marketing Specialist


Job Requirements


  • Advertising agency experience or experience working with agency partners to deliver fully integrated, results-driven marketing campaigns.
  • Being bilingual (English/French) is an asset
  • The equivalent of 7+ years of experience as a brand strategist or in brand management
  • Finance services and/or Insurance industry knowledge is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience working in large, matrixed organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing or related field with a graduate degree (MBA) preferred

  • Communicate key insights and relevant facts effectively to different audiences and levels in the organization, including crafting strategic positioning, comprehensive and compelling narratives.

  • Possess a proactive and visionary nature, with the ability to shift comfortably from strategizing long-term objectives to short-term execution

  • Strong project management skills and ability to anticipate needs to drive the work in an efficient and effective way
  • Practitioner of or familiar with agile marketing ways of working
  • You are comfortable owning brand targets and managing budgets
  • Easily build relationships and experience working with large, cross functional teams that are collaborating to solve complex business, brand and marketing problems.

Salary & Benefits


The annual base salary for this role is listed below.


Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between


$82,500.00 CAD - $148,500.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
