Description
We are seeking Subject Matter Experts to consult on the development and design of the following courses in our Legal Assistant program:
- Wills and Estates
- Criminal Law
- Legal Office Procedures
- Legal Transcription
- Real Estate Law
- Corporate Law
The successful candidate will work on a contract basis with flexible hours and a work from home arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with an instructional designer to create courses that engage students in relevant, interactive, and transferable learning in preparation for employment as a Legal Assistant.
- Source and create course content such as readings, links and resources.
- Consult with the project lead, course developer, and instructional designer as needed; respond to questions from project team members within 24 hours.
- Create evaluation criteria and assessment instruments that align with the instructional goals and outcomes of each course.
- Create learning material and media as needed (audio, video, integrations, etc.).
- Collaborate with the instructional designer as needed to ensure content is industry relevant, rigorous and well-scaffolded and to ensure timely creation and sourcing of applicable content
- Apply evidence-based development and design theories, practice, and approaches during the course development and design phase.
- Adhere to the development project timeline specified for each course.
- Review course frameworks and completed course builds; provide feedback for revision.
- Incorporate feedback on Course Guides provided by the Project Team.
- Maintain project documentation and course folders.
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with a ‘can do’ approach.
- Instructional or training experience in a post-secondary or training environment is an asset.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing training programs or courses for professional and educational purposes.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Legal Assistant or related field ; a combination of skills and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of three years of professional work experience as a Legal Assistant is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
