Job Description

Who We Are:

The Centre for Community Energy Transformation (CCET) is a newly established non-profit organization focused on achieving transformational climate and energy initiatives that accelerate the move towards a low-carbon future in Ontario communities.

With strong support and commitment from the City of Brampton, Region of Peel, City of Mississauga, and Town of Caledon, we have secured funding for the next five years. We are an action-oriented organization focused on the following energy transformation projects:

·Advancing deep home energy retrofits with a target of 80% of homes

  • Engage residents and a wide range of stakeholders to promote the importance of energy planning
  • Spurring energy efficiencies in the industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) sectors
  • Encouraging District Energy Nodes to serve new and existing high growth areas

Position Overview:

As part of a collaborative team and working with a variety of government and private sector partners, the successful candidate will establish CCET as a program administrator for home energy retrofit options for residents in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon, including a deep energy retrofit program(s). We are looking for a team player that is prepared to innovate and work to solve complex problems to scale up climate action. This position reports to the Executive Director.

What You Will Do:

·Identify and implement energy retrofit programs tailored for a range of homeowners and landlords to reduce energy use, reduce GHG emissions and improve resiliency

·Develop and maintain partnerships to implement energy retrofit programs, such as with municipal partners, energy audit organizations, retrofit contractors, alternative energy providers, financial institutions, post-secondary institutions, housing agencies, other not-for-profit groups, and other relevant agencies

·Assess and recommend financing options for building owners and ensure financial accountability for funds directed to energy retrofit projects, such as by preparing business cases and risk analyses

·Manage contracts as the program administrator to implement energy retrofit programs

·Maintain up-to-date information on available retrofit grants, incentives and programs offered by all levels of government and other agencies to inform a “one-stop-shop” for residents and prospective retrofit applicants

·Ensure that energy retrofit programs, incentives and support are inclusive and broadly available to the community

·Establish CCET as a residential energy retrofit ‘hub’, having expertise on energy solutions and retrofit processes, with the ability to respond promptly to inquiries from residents, building owners and stakeholders

·Design and administer communications and marketing strategies, with targeted uptake goals, to inform homeowners and landlords of energy retrofit programs

·Collect and assess data on homeowner and landlord needs, barriers and opportunities to improve the uptake of energy retrofit programs

·Effectively communicate progress and results with residents, building owners, partners, municipal Councils and funders

·Identify, apply for and administer external grant applications and funding offers (e.g., to governments, foundations, and other granting agencies) to implement and scale up energy retrofit programs, in collaboration with CCET partners

·Undertake research and program development and implementation on a range of complex and, at times, politically sensitive climate actions related to land use, housing affordability, building ownership, social and environmental issues

·Be an active, vocal, and visible member of the community, intent on driving sustained environmental change

What You Bring To The Role:

·7+ years of experience in a management role in energy, environment, climate change, engineering or urban planning organization

  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships
  • Demonstrated project management abilities and experience supervising consultants
  • Ability to work independently
  • Certifications such as LEED-Accredited Professional, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is considered an asset
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with energy modelling software considered an asset
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with ability to convey complex information to homeowners and stakeholders
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with experience in community engagement
  • Ability to build consensus and present information to varied audiences in a concise and sensitive manner
  • Experience fundraising and financing complex projects and initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with professional experience in climate change consulting, financing, business, and/or governments
  • In-depth knowledge of residential building systems, energy efficiency principles and sustainable practices considered an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions and strategies
  • Familiarity with the EnerGuide rating system
  • Ability to interpret complex data
  • A Degree or Diploma in Energy, Environment/Sustainability, Engineering, Urban Planning or Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within or with non-profits and municipalities is considered an asset

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Class G drivers license and access to a vehicle

Who You Will Partner With:

  • CCET Board
  • Town of Caledon
  • City of Brampton
  • City of Mississauga
  • Community Organizations
  • Region of Peel
  • Industry & Institutional Partners ( i.e., utilities, Sheridan College, builders)

Location:

Remote. The successful candidate is expected to reside in or be able to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area.

Salary Range:

$90,000 to $110,000 CAD

Application Process:
