Job Summary: The Director of Product Management will report to the VP of Product Management and will be primarily responsible for setting and maintaining Generac’s home energy storage roadmap. They will work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and others to ensure that the products we develop and launch are aligned with market & customer needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen and excellent team leadership skills. They will also have a demonstrated background in defining and launching complex products, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment.

As a part of the Clean Energy Product group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a leading role in creating and executing product development plans for Generac’s clean energy products.

Based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Open to be being based out of South Portland, Maine or San Francisco Bay Area as well.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Serving as knowledge expert in product category, relative product capability, technical specifications and features, as well as market drivers and the competitive landscape
• Identifying key market opportunities and translating them into strong business cases for product development initiatives
• Monitoring market requirements to identify trends, generating product requirements, determine specifications and recognize partnership opportunities
• Developing product management processes and tools to support a growing business
• Prioritizing new feature development and product revisions and ensure alignment with Generac’s overall clean energy product roadmap
• Managing a team of product managers
• Gathering feedback from customers and installers to facilitate closed loop learning in our product development efforts
• Clearly translating business and product requirements into actionable development plans
• Refining and maintaining Generac Clean Energy’s storage product roadmap to ensure ongoing improvements support market and customer needs
• Collaborating with sales & support teams to create and refine sales and technical support tools to ensure ongoing support through the life of our products

Minimum Qualifications

• Track record of successfully developing and launching products, directly managing a team
• 10+ years of proven experience with complex product development projects/programs
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related field; MBA Preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Renewable/clean energy (solar, wind) industry experience or working knowledge of grid-interactive energy storage systems
• Experience supporting customers in an external facing role
• Solid technical foundation, ability to learn and adapt quickly, and demonstrated ability to frame and drive business decisions
• Demonstrated ability to consolidate and communicate technical information clearly to a wide audience
• Ability to travel up to 20%
• Excellent leadership, analytical, and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
• Track record of creating and improving product management processes and tools
• Strong market analysis capability and business operations acumen with a demonstrated ability in a Product Management capacity
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; proven ability to influence and work with all levels of an organization
• Ability to clearly determine and communicate value proposition of products & services
