The Clean Energy (Co-op) Student will primarily be involved in expanding the energy management program and enhance energy conservation at each of the pulp mills. This role is an incredible opportunity to gain practical experience in various aspects of engineering and energy management working in an industrial setting. The student will receive input from a variety of people, including experienced professional engineers, mill operators and maintenance team members.


Helping to enhance energy preservation isn’t an easy task, it’s “emission” and you’re the best person for the job!


The life of the Clean Energy (Co-op) Student includes:


  • Perform and assist in audits and engineering studies to identify opportunities for energy savings
  • Help to expand the employee awareness program
  • Learn about large-scale industrial energy systems involving steam and electric power generation, natural gas, compressed air usage, etc
  • Work on utility power contracts, monthly power billing, energy modelling software, and variety of energy auditing tools
  • Help to develop energy KPIs and reports to support the strategic Energy Management plans
  • Learning from and working with the production teams to identify, document and analyze existing operating parameters and energy data with respect to energy use


For this role, you come equipped with:


  • Enrolment in a 3rd or 4th year Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental or Electrical Engineering Co-op Program
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional computer skills
  • Completed 4 academic terms


For bonus points, you have previous pulp mill or other industrial experience.
