Laboratory Technician B - Day And Night Shifts

Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for Laboratory Technicians to join our Thunder Bay, Ontario team. This is a position with a permanent status. The Laboratory Technician B is the second level position into the laboratory. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assists with administrative and basic laboratory activities.

Schedule:

4 on, 4 off rotation

Day Shift 8am-8pm

Night Shift 8pm-8am

Responsibilities

• Report results.
• Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
• Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
• Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
• Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
• Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience
• Must be flexible to work day and night shifts including weekends on a 4 days on 4 days off rotation
• Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
• Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma/Science Degree or equivalent industry experience
• Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
• Previous laboratory work experience
• Basic computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS
• Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written
• Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail

Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
