Laboratory Technician Jobs

Western Asphalts Brandon location is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Laboratory Technician. This position will be temporary (May ? September/October), for the summer season of 2023. Approximately 40 - 60 hours per week, as some overtime will be required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

-Testing of asphalt emulsions and aggregates according to strict standards

-Documentation of testing and trials

-Maintaining MSDS database

-Technical support for manufacturers and clients, as required

-Learning, understanding, and adhering to region specific testing requirements

-Other duties as required

WORK PLACE SAFETY:

-Comply with Western Asphalt and local OH&S regulations

-Increase overall Health, Safety and Environmental awareness through pro-active approaches

-Report all incidents and unsafe behavior

-Identify maintenance required on laboratory equipment and physical structure

SKILLS:

-Efficiency in scheduling, prioritizing, and completion of tasks

-Excellent math skills

-Ability to work independently

-Strong work ethic

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

-A degree in chemistry or related subject

-Civil construction education or experience an asset
