They are currently looking for a Junior Project Controller for their Calgary, AB location.

Description

Our Client’s Pipeline Integrity Project Controls Group is seeking a Jr Project Controller to join our team. Successful candidate will be Reporting to the Project Controls Manager. Project Controls team is responsible for providing detailed project cost support to ensure monitoring and controlling of project budgets. This includes trending, variance analysis, forecasting, and tracking of approved changes to ensure project is done safely, on time and on budget.

In this role you will work with both third-party contractors and internal clients to support project cost control and forecasting activities for projects. To be successful you will need to demonstrate drive and commitment to achieving business results and leverage your strong customer service skills to align with the needs of the project leadership and the client.

What You’ll Do

• Identify opportunities for improvement to forecasting and other project cost control methodologies and document as lessons learned
• Issue requisitions and assist in invoice reviews and payment approvals
• Track use of contingency, management reserve, and approved changes to project budget
• Review and analyze committed, expended, and forecasted costs for each WBS level against approved budget and approved changes
• Maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as per company standards
• Work with Project Support and Field Clerk to ensure all incurred work is accrued in the system
• Maintain trend logs and supporting data
• Maintain project forecast and cost flow in SAP
• Forecast project completion costs based on trends, including productivity measurements, labor rate analysis, commitments, management of change, schedule impacts, material cost variance, contract changes, and invoice payments
• Provide guidance to project team on matters relating to project controls
• Collaborate with Project Manager and stakeholders to define construction cost tracking to ensure commitments, schedule requirements, and risk items are accurately represented in the project forecast
• Support the Project Manager by reviewing cost estimates

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 or more years of related experience
• Working knowledge of project control functions and processes, including cost control, change management, financial, and project accounting processes and systems
• Results oriented with sound problem-solving and analytical skills and an aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy
• An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
• Post-Secondary degree in a related field
• Intermediate Microsoft Office experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Cost reports and forecast experience
• Project Experience with budgets ranging from $ 1M to $ 20M
• Knowledge of Power BI
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Knowledge of SAP Project Systems, or other cost control systems
• An organized self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision
• Willingness to learn new systems

• 3 years of relevant experience
• Undergraduate Degree
