What We Need
Geoforce is seeking an experienced Controller to join our Canadian Accounting and Finance organization where you will have the opportunity to work with the leader in the dynamic GPS-based field asset tracking space. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of our company. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Job Duties
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Manage the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact with external auditors.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management, including, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions to enhance profitability and efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including executive management, board members, and other departments, providing financial insights and guidance to support their objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial statement preperation.
  • Responsbile for the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial risk management.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience overseeing global financial reporting standards is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of US & Canadian GAAP and / or IFRS
  • Proven experience in managing financial operations, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Education And Work Experience
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a managerial or controller role.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
