Job Description
Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre is looking for a Full-Time Financial Controller to join their team. All work at the Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre (DCSC) will reflect the Mission Statement and philosophical beliefs of the organization. DCSC is a not-for-profit, charitable organization serving the Northeast Region of Alberta, that supports children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence.


This position is based out of the Bonnyville office and is responsible for leading crucial activities of financial reporting, compliance and support of operating budgets while providing oversight to the administrative team.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Oversee all financial activities (AP, AR, Reconciliations, Payroll, Asset Management, Filing).
  • Assist with the development of financial projections and annual budget development.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with the analysis of financial data.
  • Finalize required reporting (T4’s, ROE, etc.).
  • Verify account codes and signatures for proper assignment of budgetary expenditures.
  • Primary contact for Audits.
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
  • Assist in oversight and supervision of office operations including volunteers, administrative support staff, receptionists, and financial support staff
  • Ensure timely accurate remittance reporting and payments.


Qualifications


  • Experience with budget, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • Criminal Records check, Child Intervention Record check, valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficient with computers and the use of Microsoft Office software and/or Google Apps software, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher and electronic records management system.
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in accounting field.
  • An understanding of women’s issues, social justice advocacy, diversity and anti-oppressive practice is an asset.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
  • Good understanding of processes, policies and procedures required for supporting a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of finance, payroll and taxation.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • College Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
  • An understanding and experience of a fast moving workplace environment, superior written, and oral communication skills
  • Possess a high degree of professionalism and be courteous and confidential.
  • Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency with Accounting Software and spreadsheet programs and applications is an asset.
