Our client is a leading privately owned housebuilder based in Newmarket, Ontario that is redefining the norms of the industry. They are seeking an ambitious and motivated Financial Controller with experience in the homebuilding sector to join their team.

As the Financial Controller, you'll assume a central role in managing and overseeing corporate financial operations. Your responsibilities will be both hands on and strategic and will include designing and implementing effective processes and procedures across the department to support them in their current operations and set them up for success as they continue their business growth trajectory.


Key responsibilities for the Financial Controller:

  • Payroll and HR: Update biweekly payroll & manage tax paperwork, terminations, and ROE's
  • Financial Operations: Calculate and submit accurate monthly WSIB payments & process EFT payments
  • Prepare detailed annual financial reports for banks, investors, and regulations.
  • Budgeting and Compliance: Assist with annual budgets and analyze financial statements.
  • New Ventures Setup: Establish legal entities, bank accounts, and terminals.
  • Tax and Reporting: Handle corporate tax assessments/payment & prepare annual Financial Statements and Global Balance Sheets


Experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Sector specific experience in housebuilding.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with analytical and problem-solving skills.


Location: This is a full time on site position and the Financial Controller will be based in the company offices in Newmarket, Ontario.


Compensation: $100-130k basic salary, plus bonus and benefits
