Job Description
Overview


Barnard-Flatiron Limited Partnership (“BFLP”), a joint venture between Barnard Constructors of Canada and Flatiron Constructors Canada, has been created to deliver Phase One of the Green Line LRT Project.


The Green Line LRT Project is the largest infrastructure initiative in the history of the City of Calgary, with $5.5 billion (CAD) in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and the City of Calgary. It will provide significant transportation benefits by expanding mobility choice and providing rapid and direct connections between communities, employment hubs and destinations between the southeast and downtown Calgary. Phase 1 includes 18 kilometers of dual light rail track, 13 passenger stations, 2 kilometers of underground tunneling, 9 major bridge structures including 1 kilometer of elevated guideway, and a 72-acre maintenance and storage facility.


The Project Finance Manager will have full responsibilty for the accounting and financial administrative activities of the Project. Working closely with the Owner and partner organizations, this role will ensure that the Project's financial goals and objectives are met and accomplished.


This position is based at BFLP's offices located in downtown Calgary.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Management and distribution of payments as set out in the joint-venture agreement.
  • Identify a Project ERP System with the City of Calgary and manage its procurement, implementation and training.
  • Coordinate activities in Accounting, Treasury, Internal Audit, and Financial Analysis specifc to the project and as necessary.
  • Establish rules of credit for payment in conjunction with the Project Controls team.
  • Plan for improvement and track against baseline models and as sold margin and cash plans.
  • Plan, forecast and report and analyze monthly financial results and identify areas of deviation from forecast.
  • Prepares monthly financial close and associated internal reports for management, executive committee and respective partner organizations.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to receive cost book and prepare monthly financial close.
  • Manage the accounting and reporting functions of the Project including preparation of monthly financial reports and management / executive committee presentations.
  • Prepares financial planning and reporting for both partner organizations and joint-venture entities.
  • Manage, record and report on financial assets and liabilities.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable team and the logging and payment of invoices.
  • Responsible for accurate and compliant financial management, forecasting and reporting for the project (income statements, balance sheets) and the management and optimization of free cash flow.


What We Are Looking For


  • 10+ years finance or accounting experience on complex, large-scale heavy civil construction projects, preferably within Design Build or Joint Venture delivery models.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required; Master's Degree is an asset.
  • Effective analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Understands provincial and local requirements concerning sales/use tax.
  • Experienced in leading a project accounting team in the construction industry, and the ability to delegate tasks appropriately and clearly communicate expectations with staff.
  • Past experience in ERP implementation and project set up.
