IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Vice-President, Medical Affairs
Duration: 3 - 4 months
Reports: Chief of Staff and Senior Vice-President of Medical Affairs
Location: GTA, Ontario (Hybrid)
Our client, a well renowned hospital in the GTA, is looking for an experienced professional to add critical capacity and capability and to lead a key medical project for the hospital. This high-profile project is critical to the future success of medical leadership at the hospital. Our client’s medical leadership structure and remuneration models were implemented many years ago and have been historically carried over to the present time.
Over the past twenty years there has been considerable growth in their department sizes, patient volumes, and patient complexity. In addition, their administrative structures, both from a committee and human resources perspective, have increased to help meet these demands. Despite the ongoing positive growth of their organization, the physician structure and remuneration model has remained largely unchanged. This has resulted in a growing concern amongst their medical staff regarding the sustainability of medical leadership roles.
Partnering with the Chief of Staff and the Senior Vice-President of Medical Affairs, this executive interim will be responsible for data collection, as well as strategic oversight and for providing a blueprint of best practices according to hospitals standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work with the Chief of Staff and the VP to create a better framework for succession planning, retention, and engagement of Physicians.
- Utilization of key data and analysis to support recommendations.
- Provide recommendations and insights to help standardize the above.
- Provide a benchmarked review against peer hospitals on Physician remuneration, Physician leadership structure throughout the organization, Physician administrative supports, Medical Administration Office roles and FTE needs.
- Meet with and engage key physician leaders to provide a report on the pros and cons of the current structure.
- Suggest ways to improve collaboration for corporate projects, learning and strategic planning.
- Analyze and propose a plan for adequate supporting roles (e.g., deputy chiefs, divisions heads, physician leaders, medical directors) for current physician leadership.
- Develop, facilitate, implement, and evaluate programs to drive efficient and effective functioning.
Competencies and Requirements:
- Ability to interpret and analyse data to drive better outcomes.
- Proven interpersonal and administrative skills with a focus on quality service and attention to detail.
- Proven presentation and group facilitation experience.
- Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Innovative strategic and tactical thinking.
- Proven experience as an administrative leader within healthcare.
- Over 20 years experience in medical affairs and administrative leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success in delivering employee programs that impact and improve the success of the organization/department.
- Well networked within Canadian healthcare.
