Job Description

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Advisory Board, the President provides the organizational excellence necessary to grow the Gibbons Hospitality Group’s portfolio of businesses.

The President will be accountable for key financial and performance measures including employee engagement, guest satisfaction, revenue, profit, and our community engagement.

Working with the CEO and Advisory Board, the President will act as a partner in the development of a Strategic Plan that charts the future course of the company. The achievement of the key objectives in the plan will be the primary responsibility of the President.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Advisory Board to establish clear business objectives and financials targets. Use appropriate reporting tools to hold team accountable for delivering to budget
  • Ensure that each business unit is managed to contribute to the objectives established in the organization’s strategic plan
  • Build a team of industry leading professionals in each functional area. Build a bench of future operational leaders that will ensure ongoing success of the company
  • Provide strong and effective leadership to direct reports
  • Establish, implement, and maintain accountability for standard operating procedures, company policies, programs, and initiatives that support the Gibbons Business System
  • Identify, implement and execute operational improvements that drive sales and / or reduce costs
  • Clearly communicate Brand Strategy and the Company Vision to the leadership team and associates


Specific Responsibilities

The Operations Plan

  • Drive the culture of the Operations Team to align with the Core Purpose and Values of the organization
  • Participate and support in GM selection process to ensure all leaders have the “Gibbons’ DNA” that will foster all of the key business indicators
  • Own the ‘beat’ of the company with daily, weekly, monthly, and annual process excellence
  • Lead the operational team through a clear dashboard of real time information
  • Include operational and capital budget in annual business plan
  • Works with the Operations Directors to establish clear short term and long term plans by business entity


Functional Plan

  • Support daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cadences to ensure excellence within each of the functional areas
  • Lead the Functional Leaders- Finance, Sales & Marketing, Guest Experience, People & Culture and Community Relations
  • Establish metrics annually and track via company dashboard with real time data
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of competitive activity and communicate relevant information to the senior leadership team


Field Support Work and Related Activities

  • Participates in operational fieldwork as a regular part of implementing the operations plan (i.e. business review visits, new business openings, training sessions, staff seminars and operations meetings to ensure compliance to corporate standards and Gibbons Hospitality’s plan)
  • Conducts regular operations department meetings for the purpose of updating all staff on issues and providing priorities for ongoing issues and projects. Brings concerns from these meetings to the attention of the Advisory Board
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Has clear, defined development plans in place for each direct report; reviews ongoing activities of each department and monitors workloads of the group. Prepares performance evaluations for all direct reports and reviews these with the individuals at the appropriate time
  • Participates in industry & community initiatives and committees
  • Drives the operational beat of the company by holding the team accountable to Operational Excellence at driving the Gibbons Business System
  • Clearly communicate brand strategy and vision to the organization


Background Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of multi-unit leadership management experience with solid P&L track record and success running a business
  • Ability to understand complex business metrics and KPIs and recognize how they can be improved in the operation
  • Passionate about the Gibbons Hospitality Brands!
  • Proficient people leader with coaching experience and ability to listen and respond effectively to associates and guests. Success in building high performing teams a must
  • Proven track record of taking a strategic plan and implementing a comprehensive operational plan
  • Exceptional business development, marketing, and operations experience
  • Live by and embrace the company core values of Have Fun, Show Kindness, Encourage Trust, Act Like an Owner, Hustle
  • Proven track record scaling a business concept
  • Post secondary degree (Business or Hospitality ideal)
  • Impactful oral and written communication required for interactions at all levels in the organization from senior leadership team to Hourly Associates
  • Experience as a key contributor to executive business strategy and the ability to implement
  • Strong emotional intelligence demonstrated by inspiring leadership teams to deliver excellent guest experiences and strong financial metrics
