Job Description

Overview

The Vice-President Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure has overall responsibility for the full lifecycle planning, design, implementation, and sustainment of all cloud and on-premises solutions. The Vice-President IT Infrastructure collaborates with other technology teams and business customers to achieve this responsibility.


The Vice-President IT Infrastructure proactively serves as a trusted advisor, and key point of contact for business stakeholders related to the technology enablement and security of QuadReal’s operations. They represent IT to the business by promoting the IT vision, values, services, and capabilities. The Vice-President also advocates on behalf of business stakeholders to ensure enterprise architecture, integration and cyber security satisfy their key business priorities and needs.


The Vice-President IT Infrastructure has a reputation for the stable operation of all enterprise applications by proactively ensuring that appropriate cybersecurity practices, integrations, change control, production support processes and quality measures are in place. The Vice-President collaborates with enterprise architecture to ensure that appropriate architecture processes are in place, and that there is adequate future planning to ensure success for the architecture function. The Vice-President also manages key third-party software and support vendor relationships and is responsible for sourcing and allocating appropriately skilled resources and expertise for the successful delivery of projects.


Vice-President IT Infrastructure

Core Responsibilities

  • Promotes effective teamwork and manages the resolution of interpersonal issues.
  • Creates and fosters a “customer centric” culture in all infrastructure team interactions.
  • Manages the resolution of any escalated production incidents/ problems.
  • Provide strategic oversight to the Service Delivery team to ensure exceptional employee experience, continuous improvement, operational efficiency and effectiveness across QuadReal Provider leadership and guidance to the Adoption & Success team to ensure that QuadReal employees are up to date on their knowledge of applications offered by QuadReal.
  • Enhances QuadReal’s third-party vendor and partner relationship ecosystem, includes sourcing and negotiating service agreements with qualified vendor’s, managing ongoing vendor performance, and working with vendors to proactively drive greater value and synergies through all vendor relationships.
  • Collaborates with the Cybersecurity team to ensure that security incidents are investigated and resolved as well as determining the causes of security violations and implement controls to prevent future incidents and to improve QuadReal’s overall security posture.
  • Champions organizational change management activities (training and communication) related to infrastructure activities.
  • Oversee enterprise disaster recovery and IT business continuity planning and testing.
  • Stay up to date on the latest technology trends and advancements, and proactively make recommendations for technology infrastructure upgrades and improvements. Keeps IT and key business leaders up to date on all infrastructure matters.
  • Ensure architecture standards and guidelines are consistently followed by projects.
  • Collaborates with enterprise architecture function to help them define network, cloud, Microsoft, and other related architectures.
  • Ensure architecture impacts, risks and dependencies are identified and managed, and governance processes are followed (e.g., Technology Review Panel).
  • Develop and manage budgets for infrastructure operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, return on investment and adherence to budget. Pays particular attention to consumption-based costs and creates transparency around these costs.
  • Maintain knowledge of the information security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and maintenance of technology infrastructure systems and tools.
  • Collaborate with other departments and business units to understand their technology requirements and ensure that infrastructure systems meet those needs.
  • Leads succession-planning with team members and works with CTO to develop a succession plan.
  • Take ownership of and advance the IT Infrastructure Strategy, facilitate the right level of influence in the organization to ensure alignment and adoption. Work with functional heads and other key stakeholders to implement strategy. Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and security systems.
  • Ensure the technology systems of the company remain stable, secure, and capable of scaling, by working in conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity teams.
  • Plays a stewardship role overseeing the health of the entire infrastructure portfolio and seeks opportunities to standardize solutions wherever possible, and leverages existing tools, assets, and resources before seeking new solutions.
  • Ensure that there is compliance with QuadReal’s security policies and standards, and that all compliance regulations are met.
  • Acts as a mentor and coach to the infrastructure team and guides the building of tailored development plans for all team members, focusing on both soft and hard technical skills development.


Qualifications

  • Operational understanding of a data and analytics practice is an asset.
  • Demonstrated track record successfully delivering multiple large projects concurrently.
  • Experience working in Microsoft centric environment.
  • Knowledge of regulated environments and audits (PCI, SOC, PIPEDA, GDPR) considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience implementing infrastructure and support quality guidelines, standards, and procedures.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to engage a wide array of audience and provide thought leadership and advice.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking and telecommunications, audio/visual solutions, and data center operations
  • Knowledge of information management solutions or platforms including Data Warehouse/Analytics, enterprise content management/ document management / records management, portals, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft SharePoint would be an asset.
  • Experience managing software technology vendors, outsourcing service providers and cloud based XaaS service providers.
  • Experience in managing a budget and collaborating with finance in budgetary planning & control.
  • At least 12 years of experience in technology infrastructure management, with at least 7 years of experience in leadership roles.
  • Experience with large-scale, multi-location infrastructure implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and effectively communicate across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with an ability to navigate a complex matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge and experience with Internet of Things and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technologies is an asset.
