Scope of Position:
Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure you participate in the strategic vision of the IT Department. In addition, you manage the activities of a new section aimed at guaranteeing connectivity and ensuring the availability and proper functioning of Sonepar Canada’s technological infrastructures. You play the role of expert and collaborator with the directions of the IT Service.
Supported by a diverse team, including a team lead, four system administrators, two network administrators, you develop, plan, and implement the evolution plan in such a way as to ensure the continuity of operations, on a regular basis by focusing on best practices in the management of connectivity, infrastructure, and IT platforms.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the procurement and negotiation for equipment and services to ensures the availability, security and proper functioning of data centers, branch networks and telecommunication systems.
- Coordinate activities, resources and tasks related to the infrastructure deployments, maintenances, and upgrades.
- Identify, prioritize, assign, and coordinate tasks to team members to achieve project and operational objectives.
- Communicate objectives, operational and support activities within the team and to related IT teams and business units.
- Participate in project planning, review and approval of specifications, architecture design, training, and testing scripts.
- Establish and maintain standards and well-structured processes aligned with IT best practices.
- Manage a team of infrastructure specialists of diverse skill sets (including recruitment, evaluation, mentoring, career development, team building and culture) to operate and support the infrastructure environment for Sonepar.
- Apply and maintain vulnerability remediation activities across the infrastructure environment within well communicated maintenance windows in alignment with the Cybersecurity team and Sonepar policies.
- Define appropriate KPIs for SLAs, performance, uptime, task, and service request execution. Provide regular updates to the management team and identified stakeholders.
- Assist in the requirements gathering and drafting of RFPs and calls for tenders. Review contracts and monitor contractual obligations of suppliers in accordance with Sonepar policies.
- Participate in incident management, threat containment and corrective actions within the IT team and business stakeholders, lead problem resolution and coordination for related infrastructure and telecommunication components.
- Ensure service levels are maintained for uptime, connectivity of infrastructures and platforms to ensure the continuity of operations, in accordance with established requirements.
Requirements
- Undergraduate university degree (bachelor's degree) in computer science, engineering or any other field deemed relevant
- 10+ years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure and connectivity corresponding to the challenges and responsibilities identified on this posting
- 3+ years supervising IT project teams or technical teams
- Strong working knowledge of server management, server virtualization (VMWare, Windows Virtual Devices), SAN and associated technologies, cloud farm management (Azure), server monitoring tools, Power Shell, automated scripts, network security infrastructure
Cloud and cybersecurity expertise, security architecture, access identification and management, high availability and disaster recovery architecture, communication technologies including VOIP and videoconferencing, VLAN.
