The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is the organization that provides governmental,
administrative, and operational services to the community of Kahnawà:ke, which is situated
along the southern shore of the St. Lawrence River, across from the City of Montreal. The
organizational structure of the MCK is comprised of two main sectors: political and
administrative/operational. The MCK is responsible for the administration/operational sector
which is linked to most of the community’s main organizations through the Executive Directors
Committee.
Purpose of this position:
The Director’s primary responsibility is to oversee the IT/IM department's streamlined
operation and ensure it aligns with the organization's business objectives. The Director’s goal is to establish strategy, standards and policies for the MCK global information systems. To drive
the analysis and engineering of business processes and to shape the enterprise’s technological
infrastructure and security. The Director will plan, coordinate, and direct all operational
activities of the IT/IM department and provide direction and support for IT solutions that
enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of IT will work closely with decision-
makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-
effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and
cost-effective information processing and communication technologies;
2. Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business
requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources;
3. Ensures the security and management of data and data recovery;
4. Determines compliance requirements and ensures regulations are being met;
5. Is the authority on information system requirements for community buildings;
6. Define and communicate project milestones, SLAs, and resource allocation to the executive
team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
7. Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT
infrastructure and IT systems.
8. Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new
initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
9. Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
10. Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures for architecture, security, disaster
recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
11. Negotiate and oversee vendor administration, outsourcing, and consultant contracts and
service agreements.
12. Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, development, evaluation, and disciplinary
actions.
Competencies and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or
related field.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in a leadership role within an IT department.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and security, including hardware, software,
networking, and cloud technologies.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams
across the entire organization.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles.
• Knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and business operations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Applications (MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
• Experience with Microsoft Power Apps, Automate and Power BI is an asset.
• Experience with Dayforce,
• Excellent organizational, time management and priority management skills.
• Strong problem-solving, crisis and risk-management skills;
• Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Enjoys a challenge, is passionate, assertive and demonstrates excellent judgement and
integrity; Is dedicated to the community’s well-being;
• Results-oriented and determined;
• Ability to communicate in the Kanien’kéha and French languages is an asset
Additional info:
In-office position – Located at the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke building, Kahnawà:ke,
Quebec
Full-time position - 40 hours per week – hours of operation 8:00 am to 4 pm
On-call availability for (XX) days per month

Starting range: $2,020.44 - $2,727.60 per week (based on education and experience)
