Job Description
Major Functions And Responsibilities


  • Participate in programs including classifcaiton reviews, job description reviews, salary scale review and revision, and competency appraisal measures.
  • Participate in union/management meetings regarding current workplace matters including but not limited to; coaching, discipline, fact finding and investigations.
  • Develop and prepare written analysis and recommendations on employee relations investigations, collective agreement article interpretation and other topics as assigned.
  • Analyze and consult on interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs and procedures.
  • Partner with Disability Management on employee accommodations and return to work programs.
  • Consult on employee relations including but not limited to, coaching and development, performance management, and discipline. Investigate and follow up on employee concerns.
  • Research, prepare and administer internal and external training or learning opportunities as required.

Required Experience


  • Experience in the health care industry is considered an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in labour relations in a collective bargaining environment is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of labour relations code, employment standards, human rights legislation, and CRA regulations.
  • 3-5 years of generalist experience with a focus on employee relations is required.
  • Working knowledge in conducting workplace investigation.
  • Working knowledge of Avanti or other HRIS systems.
  • Working knowledge of Health Information Act, Privacy legislation, CPSA, and CAP regulations
  • Experience in grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and the collective bargaining process is an asset.


Minimum Qualifications


  • CPHR preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience is required.
