A major focus of this position is proactively reaching out to learners deemed "at risk" through various student engagement initiatives and integrate with the work of other internal stakeholders (Faculty, Program Coordinators, Chairs and Academic Advisors) by delivering enhancement programming to learners in accordance with a student retention calendar. This position places particular emphasis on programming and interventions on level one students.
Working closely with Faculty, the Student Success Specialist brings in supports and resources at key times along the student academic journey. The incumbent supports strategic enrollment management by successfully implementing core student retention strategies, identifying process improvements and recommending new initiatives. As part of their duties, the incumbent will meet with at-risk students considering withdrawing from their program to support an informed decision process that may include referrals and check-ins with various program supports and services. The incumbent will make recommendations based on analysis of student withdrawal data. The incumbent provides students with impartial guidance to support their academic success, offers resources and referrals to College services and respond to questions or concerns learners may have. The incumbent must work closely and partner effective with Student Support Services and programs.

Required Qualifications
- Previous experience de-escalating emotional clients and providing emotional support to distressed clients is preferred;
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of coaching, advising, counseling, or career planning is considered an asset;
- The incumbent must be self-motivated, organized, client-oriented, and must be able to work under pressure;
- Experience triaging client inquiries to second-level support from academic and operational staff;
- Experience in strategic development of student success initiatives within a post-secondary setting;
- Ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential matters while demonstrating compassion and good judgement;
- Three (3) year diploma/degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Adult Learning or Education;
- Strong written communication and presentation skills;
- Strong working knowledge of College software such as Zoom, Brightspace, Salesforce, Genesis is considered an asset;
- Proficient in the use of creating and composing informational materials using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams);

- This position is paid at Payband H
- Valid G driver's license.
- Experience in advising a diverse clientele preferably in an educational setting;
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working with adult learners with demonstrated ability to improve academic success;
