Key Function


What we are looking for:


We are seeking a creative and dynamic Senior Corporate Communications Specialist to join the Eastern York Region North Durham (EYRND) Ontario Health Team. The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing high quality, strategic communications to support the OHT’s goals and priorities. As an integral part of the team, this role will lead communication activities for strategic projects and clinical initiatives within the OHT.


Role Description


The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist will draw on their extensive experience in strategic communications to develop and execute communications plans consistent with the OHT’s strategic plan. The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist will plan and execute communications strategies in a variety of areas including media relations, website design, graphic design, event planning, internal and external communications and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and have knowledge of the health care system and issues management and be comfortable working in a large complex organization.


Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)


  • Conduct social research and competitive analysis to identify and track fluctuating social trends and leverage data to inform content creation
  • Minimal administrative tasks that include managing the department’s purchase orders and invoicing process
  • Optimize the content, accessibility, and traffic on web and social media channels through graphics, databases, analytics, and interactive tools
  • Research, write, and edit engaging and compelling articles/web content
  • Work within brand guidelines and writing style guide to champion the brand, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Build strong relationships and engage with OHT stakeholders, including partners, physicians, volunteers, patients, etc. to gather relevant content to inform and drive communications activities
  • Plan and manage events such as the OHT’s Annual General Meeting, health fairs, and webinars
  • Oversee and support corporate communication campaigns
  • Develop and execute viral marketing campaigns, create high-profile channel accounts, and prioritize application/feature developments
  • Develop and maintain consistent branding for day-to-day creative requests within the organization
  • Manage updates on the OHT’s website
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)Create and produce multimedia for various digital and print applications such as social media, digital and paper newsletters, website, signage, etc.
  • Manage the communications activities of a concentrated portfolio of select OHT programs and strategic initiatives
  • Analyze, track and report performance against goals such as site engagement metrics, sources of traffic, landing page conversion rates, social engagement rates and organic searches
  • Develop and deliver core communication materials such as communications plan, key messages, briefing notes, reports and presentations
  • Manage implementation of the OHT’s corporate brand across the website and social media channel(s)
  • Collaborate with digital and design teams (in-house and external suppliers) for special projects as required


Support the hospital communications team for 0.25FTE which includes: Daily clippings, media coverage report, copy editing, supporting additional business partners, and administrative tasks as required.

Compensation


Band L: $38.80 - $47.32/hr


Annual Salary: $75,660 - $92,274


Qualifications


What you bring to Oak Valley Health:


  • Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, results-driven
  • Experience in providing strategic advice and guidance to senior management on sensitive issues
  • Ability to work afterhours or evenings (minimal) as required
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent with a minimum of five years of related experience
  • Excellent writing, researching, reviewing and editing skills, with the ability to compose internal and external communication products for all media and audiences
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Strong customer-service orientation and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the team
  • Ability to develop strong relationships within the community
  • Ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate excellent working relationships with staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Experience in health care industry is an asset
  • Trustworthy, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience using social media in a corporate environment
  • Superior writing skills; thorough knowledge of Canadian Press (CP) style
