Job Description
The purposes of this position are:


  • Contributes to the overall Curve Lake First Nation Education Department by providing for the overall Student success initiatives including Literacy, numeracy, retention.
  • Will establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the Education Department.
  • Reporting to the Director of Education, the Manager of Student Success will oversee program and professional development and within the Education Department.


DUTIES:


The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:


  • Create and maintain academic student records and update as required.
  • Responsible for management in the three areas of Student Success:
  • Collaborate with the CLFN school Principal in the facilitation of a literacy and numeracy resource network for the school (meetings, P.L.C., in-service, etc., as needed)
  • Provide leadership for Student Success initiatives (in the areas of literacy, numeracy and retention)
  • Provide written reports and proposals for Director of Education, Education Committee, Chief and Council and, ISC as needed.
  • Assessment data collection and reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual school calendar, school parent manual/agenda and strategic planning with the Education Manager and Principal.
  • Supervise Student Success Staff
  • Participate in, maintain and update the CLFN School and Early Learning Centre success plans.
  • Monitor, maintain and provide training and support for the Student Information System, Curve Lake First Nation School website and online educational programs for CLFN School and Oshkiigmong ELC.
  • Performance measures summaries
  • Provide coaching and facilitation services, working with teachers for advice and support in practice teaching methods to increase the expectations of teacher, parents and students
  • Responsible for tracking of student data and reporting trends to the Director of Education, Early Learning Centre Coordinator, Principal and Staff.
  • Liaison between CLFN and local school boards if required
  • Facilitate, monitor and manage professional development opportunities for the Education Department
  • Manage Student Success budget and programming.
  • School and Early Learning Centre success plans
  • Work in close collaboration with the Director of Education and the Education Administrative Team
  • Research best practices, acquire and/or develop materials to support retention, literacy and numeracy success for Curve Lake First Nation School

EDUCATION:


The incumbent to this position will meet the minimum requirements that include:


  • Knowledge of child development and capacity at a primary program level
  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferably in Education)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an educational setting


RATED REQUIREMENTS:


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Familiarity with Literacy and Numeracy intervention/programs, Student Success program development,


student learning assessments and data management.


  • Working ability in Anishnaabemowin would be an asset.
  • Must demonstrate and ensure a high level of personal and professional conduct
  • High level of comfort with ICT-supported learning (SMART Board, iPads, etc.);
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple and/or unexpected deadlines in a demanding environment;
  • Excellent organizational, communication skills (strong written and verbal skills);
  • Dynamic, flexible, creative and visionary
  • An appreciation of the language and culture of the Anishinaabe is required;
