The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for an Estimator/Inside Sales professional has arisen in the Orillia area with one of our industry-leading clients in the steel/fabrication industry. For those who prefer it, this can become a remote/work from home position AFTER a required 6 months of on-premise work, such that you have become conversant with their processes, capabilities and estimating practices.

Position Description
As a skilled estimator with expertise in metal fabrication, particularly welding and fitting, you possess remarkable judgement. As a knowledgeable sales professional, you’re accustomed to juggling the need for specificity and speed to deliver precise quotes, even when all specifics might not be at hand.
Embodying a customer-first approach, the customer’s viewpoint and necessities are consistently top-of-mind with you. And in doing, you maintain an upbeat and self-conscious demeanour, promoting clarity, honesty, and preventing misinterpretation in your communication.

Workflow Supervision
- Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with both new and existing clients to deliver precise, timely quotations and generate fresh expansion possibilities.
- Utilize software tools to handle priorities, individual KPIs, allocated tasks, and performance.
- Work in unison with the client and engineering team to uncover ways to boost efficiency, cut costs, and improve quality for new products.
- Promptly and accurately input Sales Orders into the ERP system, furnishing clients with Sales Order Acknowledgements and repricing if necessary.
- Construct and deliver precise, competitive quotes for customer inquiries, considering design operations, raw materials, third-party components, and production costs per cost center via ERP.
- Collaborate with the Sales department to convert qualified leads into synergistic relationships with new key clients, resulting in profitable revenue and expansion.
- Support the establishment and upkeep of their client communication and responsiveness program, guaranteeing immediate and efficient customer communication.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients to offer order status updates, resolve any issues, and ensure customer satisfaction through regular check-ins with new key clients.
Quality Assurance
- Understand the effect of data provided by estimating on all downstream operations and address any NCRs with a suitable corrective measure.
- Keep precise records and information related to customer RFQs to ensure quotations align with customer expectations.
- Make sure all quotes and client proposals meet a high quality standard.
Customer Satisfaction Maintenance
- Portray the company professionally and positively in all communication and interactions.
- Confirm that estimating service standards are met and that customer feedback is relayed to the management team.
Initiative Implementation
- Recommend enhancements to products, services, or processes based on feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Cooperate with sales, supply chain, and estimating management to provide feedback on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in company-wide projects as part of the team.
Technology Adaptation
- Stay informed about the metal manufacturing industry, sales, and estimating best practices, and keep up with new trends and technologies.
- Keep up-to-date with professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, building personal networks, and engaging in professional associations.
Cultural Development
- Assume personal responsibility to support the team in nurturing a positive company culture aligned with their values and principles.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in inside sales and estimating, ideally within the OEM manufacturing sector.
Qualifications
- Understanding of Welding & Fitting techniques applicable to estimating comprehensive welding time for components.
- Profound analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with multitasking and effective prioritization skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a pronounced customer-centric approach.
- Familiarity with ERP software and CRM systems.
- Experience in drafting Terms and Conditions and negotiating contracts.
- Capability to employ advanced AI tools for enhancing workflow efficiency.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, inclusive of weld symbols, tolerances, material requirements, BOMs, and a basic understanding of architectural drawings.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Solidworks.
Education
College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as mechanical, manufacturing, or civil engineering, machining, tool & die, construction technology, or similar disciplines.
