The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Coordinator provides administrative, training and communications support for the Equity Diversity & Inclusion area. This includes developing processes, programs and content to provide education, training and awareness for equity, diversity and inclusion related activities.
The ED&I Coordinator will be a key resource who will support adoption of an employment equity census capability at the College, including assessment of equity reports and maintenance of National Occupational Codes (NOC) at the position level in collaboration with Total Compensation. The ED&I Coordinator will also be a critical resource supporting programs and tactics to improve representation rates and employee experience for equity seeking groups.
The ED&I Coordinator engages key stakeholders including local unions, partners and internal stakeholders to drive awareness and adoption of an equity self-identification questionnaire per requirements of the Federal Contractors Program (FCP). This includes developing content and maintaining the College’s diversity website.
The ED&I Coordinator organizes and supports EDI-related training and events (e.g. Inclusion Infusions Live, Ethical Upstander Training). This duty includes developing communications, materials promoting events, preparing and evaluating training materials, supporting participants on digital events, including the use of event platforms, deploying satisfaction surveys, etc.
The ED&I Coordinator also provides coordination and support to the Inclusion & Diversity Circle, Accessibility Committee and Employee Resources Groups (ERGs), including scheduling, meeting preparation, maintaining minutes/actions, and tracking various metrics and key performance indicators.
The ED&I Coordinator manages the accessibility and diversity email inboxes, providing fist level support and direction, and if required, triages accordingly based on the nature of the query, complaint or issue. This requires an understanding of equity and inclusion issues and how they impact marginalized groups, an ability to respond with empathy and attention to a strict code of confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
  • Understanding of the diverse college stakeholder groups (e.g. faculty, staff, students, campus visitors);
  • Strong cultural awareness;
  • Experience with communications and event management;
  • Minimum three (3) years experience working with equity seeking / marginalized communities / individuals;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative; effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree in a related field (e.g. Social Sciences, Psychology, Women’s and Gender Studies, Human Resources, Disability Studies, Law);

  • Proficient with computer software (e.g. MS Office Suite, WebEx, Zoom) and experienced with website content maintenance (including accessible document creation) and social networking tools;
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret policies, procedures and collective agreements;
  • Demonstrated understanding of accessibility and inclusion in a workplace or post-secondary setting;
  • This position is paid at Payband 8
  • Experience and knowledge related to current trends, issues, legislation, regulation and practices in areas of human rights, workplace harassment, equity and inclusion (e.g. Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, Accessibility);
  • Completed CHRP designation is considered an asset;
  • Maintains confidential information; uses discretion, tact and diplomacy;
  • Patient; calmly handles stressful, crisis, or emotionally charged situations;
  • Open-minded and empathetic; maintains neutrality and objectivity;
