Gateway Association
Gateway started in 1975 to address issues of exclusion and marginalization experienced by people with disabilities in Alberta. Gateway maintains an ‘authentic voice’ of lived experience in their ongoing advocacy and service provision. People with disabilities as well as other diversity groups and intersectionality are included in our leadership – and their lived experience continues to shape and inform our work. Gateway facilitates big change via small changes and works to ignite diversity advocacy in workplaces to advance inclusion culture.
Gateway is an Employment Resource Centre (ERC), Learning Resource Centre (LRC), Digital Inclusion Hub, and a Family Resource Centre (FRC) that helps make Alberta a more inclusive place to live and work.
Gateway to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub (GEDI-Hub)
At the GEDI-Hub, we help Alberta workplaces across Alberta build capacity, confidence, and community to attract and engage diverse talent while developing their EDI (equity, diversity, and inclusion) capacity and sustainable workforce strategies.
The GEDI-Hub is a Gateway Association initiative fully funded by the Government of Canada and is offered at no cost to workplaces.
Overview
The GEDI-Hub is a new initiative in Canada that you will have the opportunity to directly influence through your expertise and experiences. This provides successful candidates with a unique employment experience, as you will have a role in shaping the project and the work you will be doing.
This position (Diversity & Engagement Consultant) provides an opportunity to engage employers and liaise with the business community to develop employer partnerships, assess and address workplace EDI needs and increase awareness of the value and sources of diversity talent in Alberta. Supporting service providers to connect with employers and facilitating workplace inclusion partnerships is a key outcome for this role.
In this position, your expertise and lived experience will be valued, and you will be encouraged to leverage them to strengthen existing EDI approaches and innovate. Your work will directly contribute to building the capacity of Alberta’s employers and labour market.
Inside the GEDI-Hub team, this position specializes in community building! You will be a business champion by developing networks to bring employers and service providers together. You will work alongside the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to plan and facilitate GEDI-Hub sponsored events (small and large-scale events)
Overall, this position provides an opportunity to give purpose to your passion for EDI, as you will not only be influencing but shaping trends. You will get to have important conversations with both large and small employers that may, in principle, be committed to EDI but not quite know how to put those commitments into practice.
In short, this work will feel good because you will be working towards something important – a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive Alberta.
