Disability Representative Sr - Bilingual


  • Must be bilingual and fluent in French and English


PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide disability case management and claim determinations based on complex medical documentation and the applicable disability plan interpretation including determining benefits due and making timely payments/approvals and adjustments, medically managing disability claims; coordinating investigative efforts, thoroughly reviewing contested claims, negotiating return to work with or without job accommodations, and evaluating and arranging appropriate referral of claims to outside vendors.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS And RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Utilizes the appropriate clinical resources in case assessment (i.e. duration guidelines, in-house clinicians).
  • Reviews and analyzes complex medical information (i.e. diagnostic tests, office notes, operative reports, etc.) to determine if the claimant is disabled as defined by the disability plan.
  • Communicates with the claimant’s providers to set expectations regarding return to work.
  • Maintains professional client relationships.
  • Coordinates investigative efforts ensuring appropriateness; provides thorough review of contested claims.
  • Negotiates return to work with or without job accommodations via the claimant’s physician and employer.
  • Evaluates and arranges appropriate referral of claims to outside vendors or physician advisor reviews, surveillance, independent medical evaluation, functional capability evaluation, and/or related disability activities.
  • Refers cases as appropriate to team lead and clinical case management.
  • Analyzes, approves and authorizes assigned claims and determines benefits due pursuant to a disability plan.
  • Communicates clearly with claimant and client on all aspects of claims process either by phone and/or written correspondence.
  • Medically manages disability claims ensuring compliance with duration control guidelines and plan provisions.
  • Informs claimants of documentation required to process claims, required time frames, payment information and claims status either by phone, written correspondence and/or claims system.
  • Determines benefits due, makes timely claims payments/approvals and adjustments for workers compensation, Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), and other disability offsets.

Qualifications


Education & Licensing


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred.


Experience


  • Three (3) years of benefits or disability case/claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.


Skills & Knowledge


  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

OBJECTIF PRINCIPAL : Assurer la gestion des cas d’invalidité et effectuer les déterminations relatives aux réclamations en s’appuyant sur une documentation médicale complexe, et assurer l’interprétation du régime applicable, ce qui comprend la détermination des prestations à verser et les paiements, approbations et ajustements nécessaires en temps opportun; gérer les réclamations d’invalidité du point de vue médical; coordonner les efforts liés aux enquêtes, examiner de façon approfondie les réclamations contestées, négocier le retour au travail avec ou sans mesures d’adaptation, et évaluer et prendre les mesures nécessaires pour le renvoi des réclamations à des fournisseurs externes.


FONCTIONS ESSENTIELLES et RESPONSABILITÉS


  • Examine et analyse des renseignements médicaux complexes (c.-à-d. examens de diagnostic, notes du médecin, rapports opératoires, etc.) afin de déterminer si le requérant est invalide selon la définition du régime.
  • Renvoie les cas au chef d’équipe et à la gestion des cas cliniques, le cas échéant.
  • Communique avec les fournisseurs du requérant pour établir les attentes concernant le retour au travail.
  • Utilise les ressources cliniques appropriées dans l’évaluation du cas (c.-à-d. lignes directrices quant à la durée de la période d’invalidité, cliniciens internes).
  • Analyse, approuve et autorise les réclamations attribuées, et détermine les prestations à verser au titre du régime d’assurance invalidité.
  • Détermine les prestations à verser, assure le paiement, l’approbation et les ajustements nécessaires pour les réclamations d’indemnisation des accidents du travail, de revenu de sécurité sociale en cas d’invalidité et de mesures compensatoires d’invalidité.
  • Communique clairement avec le requérant et le client sur tous les aspects du processus de traitement des réclamations, par téléphone et/ou par correspondance écrite.
  • Coordonne les efforts d’enquête, toujours dans un souci de pertinence; réalise un examen approfondi des réclamations contestées.
  • Assure la gestion, du point de vue médical, des réclamations d’invalidité, tout en veillant à la conformité avec les lignes directrices quant à la période d’invalidité et les dispositions du régime.
  • Informe les requérants de la documentation requise pour traiter les réclamations, des délais requis, des informations de paiement et du statut des réclamations, par téléphone, par correspondance écrite et/ou par l’intermédiaire du système de traitement des réclamations.
  • Évalue et prend les mesures nécessaires pour le renvoi des réclamations à des fournisseurs externes en ce qui concerne les évaluations de médecins, la surveillance, les évaluations médicales indépendantes, l’évaluation des capacités fonctionnelles et/ou les activités liées à l’invalidité.
  • Négocie le retour au travail avec ou sans mesures d’adaptation par l’intermédiaire du médecin et de l’employeur du requérant.
  • Maintient des relations professionnelles avec les clients.

Qualifications


Formation et accréditations


  • Préférence pour les titulaires d’un baccalauréat obtenu auprès d’une université ou d’un collège accrédité.


Expérience


  • Trois (3) années d’expérience en gestion des prestations ou des cas/réclamations d’invalidité, ou combinaison équivalente d’études et d’expérience requis.


Compétences et connaissances


  • Connaissance pratique de la terminologie médicale et de la gestion de la période d’invalidité
  • Connaissances informatiques, y compris les produits Microsoft Office
