Overview


Reporting to the VP, Employee & Labour Relations, Diversity & Governance, the Director of Talent Acquisition is accountable for managing the fully integrated end-to-end recruitment process (sourcing, selection, hiring, and onboarding) for all roles up to and including VP, through a dedicated team of Recruiters. This includes developing the capabilities of the recruitment team and managing key relationships with business leaders as well as the broader HR community.


The Director of Talent Acquisition will be a champion of Hydro One’s culture and values, partnering with our business leaders to help them build their organizations and source key talent. He/she is responsible for defining new strategies and tactics for identifying, engaging, and hiring the best talent, continuously ensuring an exceptional candidate experience, aligning innovative recruiting strategies, managing and mentoring a growing, talented, recruiting team, and measuring and delivering results to enable our continued growth.


Accountabilities


  • Benchmark against Best-in-Class talent acquisition organizations and adopt best practices to excel including diversifying the talent pipeline through partnerships and expanding the organizations brand awareness
  • Define a sourcing strategy for key talent segments including early careers, internal hiring within a unionized context and professional and leadership role
  • Provides guidance to the design and implementation of the organization-wide employment programs and initiatives
  • Define and deliver Hydro One’s Talent Acquisition Strategy to attract top talent to deliver on the organization’s strategy
  • Ensure that the talent acquisition team is business savvy and responsive. This team must be known for being extremely customer and results-oriented with exceptional assessment skills delivering ever improving results
  • Define and implement a Talent Acquisition technology roadmap
  • Implement and maintain compliant recruiting policies and procedures that support strategic recruiting goals.
  • Create and implement an optimal candidate and hiring leader experience
  • Leverage data effectively with key stakeholders to, among other things, identify trends, hiring needs, provide leaders with insights and continuous improvement
  • Identify appropriate recruiting resources and participates in meaningful recruiting outreach events (e.g. job fairs).
  • Be accountable for measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of the recruiting function including targeted and innovative sourcing strategies for “just in time” recruiting and “pipeline recruiting” for recurring roles as well as “strategic recruiting” based on workforce plans
  • Understand the market and educate the business on key insights that may impact recruitment of key talent
  • Facilitate the development of a candidate pipeline in keeping with Hydro One core competencies.
  • Responsible for strategic part of recruitment i.e. trends, market insights, etc. and partner with recruiter for operational items like hiring relative to workforce plans, etc.
  • Works closely with hiring managers to determine best recruiting approach, gain understanding of skills, competencies and experience needed to fill slots.
  • Direct, coordinate and advise on Talent Acquisition activities including the development of processes, policies and tools to support the team
  • Assist with pre-employment and offer process including reference checking, candidate correspondence, and occasionally making verbal offers of employment as directed.
  • Manage executive recruitment process for the organization


Education & Experience / Qualifications


  • Systems experience (i.e. SAP/SuccessFactors, ATS)
  • In depth understanding of the recruitment function and our industry
  • 8-10 years of Human Resources experience, including 5+ years of experience in leading talent acquisition in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture
  • Ability to identify opportunities that capitalize on emerging trends in recruiting
  • Familiarity with electric utility industry and the industry-wide challenges that impact human capital is preferred.
  • Experience with statistical analysis/metrics
  • Proven excellent people management skills in order to lead and motivate team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. Masters degree would be considered an asset.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry developments to make informed recommendations
