Job Description
Job Summary


The position of Director of Human Resources is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the President. This position will be based out of our Burlington corporate office and will require occasional travel to our various branches in Ontario.


Education


  • Knowledge of relevant government laws, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University focussing on Human Resources / Employee Relations or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge in Human Resources practices and principles including recruitment and staffing, training & development, compensation, employee relations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook, and to conduct research using the internet.
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • CHRL designation required.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and manage the annual business plan and department budget.
  • Engage and collaborate with the Management Team and internal stakeholders to ensure the development of HR strategies and processes that consider the current and future needs of the company.
  • HRIS: evaluate and make recommendations for changes and upgrades when needed.
  • Design and manage programs that drive employee engagement and retention and provide coaching to leaders in managing performance.
  • Acts as a strategic business partner to the President by identifying organizational issues together with functional heads and delivering effective organizational development solutions
  • Provide strategic advice to the Senior Management Team to address issues and ensure people impacts, risks, and opportunities are considered.
  • Build a high performing HR Team that promotes and fosters a positive work culture to support the achievement of organizational objectives through employee engagement.
  • Review organizational structure, lead Development programs for future leaders and oversee succession planning and recruitment initiatives to ensure we remain an employer of choice.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for all HR Strategies, encompassing the full life-cycle of our employees, to support the continued growth and expansion of the organization and be reflective of Freshstone Brands’ vision and values.
  • Lead employee integration activities resulting from continued growth.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • 7-10 year’s experience leading an HR Department or Team ideally in the Food or Manufacturing industry
  • Sound experience and deep knowledge in employee relations, employment legislation, functional best practices, organizational change, HR policies, practices and strategy.
  • Previous experience in building and developing HR strategies and road maps for a growth orientated company.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate metrics into meaningful information for the business.
