What You'll Be Doing


  • Oversee change management process and manage any large changes or disputes
  • Oversee and lead the entire project team consisting of direct and indirect reports (Project Manager, Assistant Project Managers, Coordinators, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and student interns)
  • Oversee projects to ensure completion is as per design, budget, and schedule
  • Create and maintain a culture of Safety First leading by example and holding team members and site partners accountable
  • Oversee overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work. Conduct post-mortem analysis on each project
  • Review and continuously improve project procedures and operating guidelines
  • Oversee the implementation of the quality management plan and quality culture
  • Ensure that teams are adhering to standard work and processes
  • Provide mentorship and coaching with a focus on career development and performance management for all project team members
  • Act as main point of contact for any labour relations and market implications
  • Monitorproductionandreviewworkoftrade partners and subcontractors to ensure project time, cost, and quality objectives are met
  • Review bid specifications and budget compliance
  • Implement continuous improvements to ensure that project safety standards, legislation, and environmental programs are followed
  • Foster a culture that promotes identifying potential project constraints and problem-solving
  • Oversee, review, or perform weekly or monthly detailed project cost review: Labour Cost Reports, Project Cost and Forecast reports
  • Stay current with industry practices; identify new, innovative construction methods and initiatives
  • Oversee and verify progress preparation payments to subcontractors and trade contractors
  • Monitor project performance status reports for scheduling, equipment, people resources, materials, safety and environment, cost forecast, and quality control
  • Collaborate with HR to delegate and oversee tasks related to training and onboarding new employees and assist in the recruitment of new team members to the project team
What You Bring


  • Knowledge of Tarion, warranty processes, and construction performance guidelines
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and project operations, including building materials/methods, and a strong foundation in building science
  • Thorough knowledge of quality standards and proven success in managing quality plans on large-scale projects
  • Successfully led large teams on multiple sites, with a focus on coaching/mentoring team members
  • Ability to identify opportunities and mitigate potential risks on complex construction projects - develop risk registers
  • Knowledge of collective agreements for multi-trade sites
  • Advanced MS Projects and Excel skills
  • Experience with creating, documenting, implementing, and auditing key construction processes
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in construction with 2+ years experience as a Director of Construction
  • Proven success in the management of complex project budgets and schedules
  • Understanding of construction sequence and project close-out process
  • Knowledge of municipal planning by-laws, project permitting process, and zoning
  • Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing. Experience working with HR to assemble a high-performing project team
  • Experience with RFI submittals, CMMP & logistics management, shop drawing review
  • Procore certification is considered an asset
  • Proven success in leading mid- and high-rise residential projects or complex ICI projects
  • In-depth knowledge of OBC, construction law, safety legislation, and MOL guidelines/procedures
  • Certified Engineering Technologist, Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management Degree, or equivalent education
  • Ability to generate, review, and administer complex subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring all risks are mitigated and opportunities are identified
  • Understanding of procure to pay process
